First, a bit of honesty: This article is not truly dated April 2 2007 as the Muelsfell news system was not yet written back then. As of this day, November 20th 2007, the game is rapidly approaching initial Beta testing. Still I felt that a date of April 2 was more appropriate for the first news article, as that was in fact the very start of the game.
It's been quite a few months! Some of my original ideas were dropped for various reasons, and some new ideas managed to work themselves firmly into place. Some of those ideas are being slated for a v2.0 of the game, but Muelsfell itself is coming together exceptionally well.
But just who am I? Call me Kep. Though I have years of game design experience in the realms of tabletop and MMORPGs as well as plenty of website design experience, this is my first foray into the world of browser-based gaming.
My goals were at first simplistic: experiment with a basic golem-vs-golem combat system with location-based damage, and perhaps even open it to the public. That basic goal grew, mutated, and grew again, and now, months later, it's nearing completion as a fully fleshed out mini-game world.
I expect that the game will be fully open on January 1, 2008. Time will tell if I meet that goal, but whenever the "official" opening is, I hope Muelsfell becomes a fun and interesting game.
More news to come as progress brings it closer to completion.
