Another round of combat tweaks; not quite important enough to sticky, but let me know if you have issues:

1) When using the DESTROY option against a wall, you should no longer see the "does no appreciable damage" result.

2) Clan golems are now properly checked for missing legs, having no power, or being too battered to block a successful attacker if the first guardian was defeated.

3) Spikes now strike at most once per attack by the attacker (whereas previously they struck once per attack plus one). In addition, the speed of all golems except flesh can reduce the number of times the spikes can strike, down to a minimium of one.

Combat updates are going to be slow while the spell system is in progress; I have to be a lot more careful of what I send to the live gaming environment while spell stuff is partly plugged in.

Trying to understand this one makes my head hurt. I think of an extra nasty rose bush. When I touch roses, I have to be careful and move slowly because if I don't I get scratched more and worse. Faster should hurt more, not less.

I think these are mobile spikes, (animated, right?) so they actually reach out to get you Well, your golem anyway.

yeah, they're described as animated spikes, so being fast would mean you'd be able to dodge them more often.

Thanks for making glass not worthless :P I'll test them and get back to you soon.

So I shouldn't be thinking Killer Rose Bush, I should be thinking Automagickal Pokey Spears?

Automagickal EXTRA-Pokey Spears. :D

You can also think of them as mini-constructs; they're definitely animated and twitchy.

And they talk to each other in a childlike high-pitched tone of voice. "Hey guys, there another golem attacking! Let's get'em! WEEEEEEEE!"

Do tell. You know, that means it would be totally consistent to be able to make them more animated and more twitchy and have levels and better materials and get more dangerous....

So I did some testing with a glass golem (the fastest in the game) and the spiked wall still hits back roughly 60% of the time. Still seems a little bit high to me. Has anyone else done testing with other types of golems?

Not formally, but I've noticed a vast reduction in the number of times spikes hit my bone golems. At most they hit half as much as they used to, usually only 1-3 times per round.
