Hi - I have a feature request... Any possibility of getting a "who's online now" feature? We can IM once we know they are online but it's not always clear who's out there...

you can kind of infer this from their profile. It tells you how long ago they've logged in, and if it's "in the last 15 minutes" you can often assume they're online now.

A "who's online" function would need to have an opt out. I don't want people knowing when I'm online (and probably have my golem away from the workshop) so they can raid me freely.

I toyed with a "who's online" function once as a prem only perk. Surprisingly, it actually was rather resource intensive, adding quite a bit of time to the page loads.

Because of that coupled with the reasoning Gryficus mentions, I decided to abandon it for the time being.

Should it ever get added, it'll only show people who are on a "friends" list or something.

The Friends list would need to be mutually accepted by both parties of course. Otherwise I could friend people and they'd never know until they were out hunting and I swooped like a vulture and feasted upon their workshop-carrion.
