Instead of having your clan open, would it not be better for players to be abled to apply to join rather than just come straight through the door as it were.
Better for security, and that way you don't have to send out a load of invites, when someone who does want to join a clan but doesn't no who to msg about it misses out.

Oh, that's actually a pretty reasonable idea. An "apply to join" button on closed clans? One doesn't always know who to message...

Would work like this.
(clan) closed.
No buttons or links as usual except the invite thing as normal.
(clan) open.
Should then be an apply button or link. If you have applied to a clan and no longer wish to join, when you click the clan name, there should be a withdraw your application button or link.
Applications can then be accepted or denied by SM's or Arch's.

You should also be abled to apply to more than one clan, and still be invited.
Better for forum security, clan abuse with weapons etc.
