Looking for civilised conversation. No randomness, no forum games, no illiterate emos, no nonsense, you know the drill, guv'ner.

So. Seen any good movies lately? (Dark Knight doesn't count.)

I think that was a little out of order CommComms and I'm trying really really hard not to laugh. (ok I failed)

I took my daughter to see Wall-e and it was great.

My Cousin Vinny was an amazing older movie, and for a movie that is even more amazing, and yet older, might I recommend The Court Jester?

Oh! I saw a movie with that actor in it that was really good! It was rather weird though... and in French, so I'm not sure it counts... I'm also not sure what it's called. I know it's by the same person who made Amelie, which also fits into the "really good, rather weird, in French" movie category... It was something with lost children......... IMDB says it's The City of Lost Children. Yay IMDB! Watch it. (If you want) It's really really sweet, rather disturbing and only severely weird.

Saw the latest Vin Diesel flick, Babylon A.D.

So. Hmmm. Nice effects, but the story kinda lost me. I probably would have gotten more out of it had I read the book 'Babylon Babies' on which it was based. So while it was ok as far as mindless entertainment goes, I kept feeling some critical scenes were left on the cutting room floor.

On the other hand, Hellboy 2 rocked. :)

Some of the best movies i've ever seen have either Bill Murray or Dan Ackroyd in them, so it gets pretty hard to beat the classic Ghostbusters.
I did once watch Groundhog Day about 4 time back to back once too but the last 2 times were alcohol fueled...
I suppose it depends on what genre you're in the mood for at the time you decide to watch, but i recommend the following as some of my top movies:
Alien trilogy (but feel free to stop after the 2nd)
Serenity (must watch firefly first. Most.realistic.ship.ever!)
(in fact just look at the ship and you can skip the film unless you're into it)
and maybe The Langoliers

oh, and Love Actually.

i'll stop before i get carried away. :-)

As I have seen these, enjoyed them and remember them well...
I will throw out 2 I enjoy greatly, Musa the Warrior and Nomad.
Musa the Warrior comes to us from Korea and is about a diplomatic delegation from Korea that was sent to China being charged as spies and exhiled into a desert, where they fight some chinese soldiers, then fight some more soldiers, find out a princess was kidnapped and then... well find out for yourself. It's a good movie, though VERY violent.
Nomad comes from Kazakhstan and has a great plot centered on a tribe decended from Ghengis Khan, good fight scenes and various twists.
But you should see them for yourselves.
One note though, they have sub-titles. So yes you do have to read.
