ok so ive been thinking this through. im not sure of the effects night has on combat. I understand what happens to my attacking golem, speed accuracy penaltie, but what about the defender? are they subject to the same drawbacks? is it different for creatures or defending golems? i guess my example would be when attacking the moutain giant... he does much more damage at night than during the day. However if he was subject to the effects of night surely he would do the same amount of damage as during the day, just drawn out over a longer period of time? as you do the same amount of damage to him, it just takes a little longer. |

Ah u've met Bernard his nocturnal twin sister :) Ok I recon that the creatures know their own territory, so get an advantage over the attacker who charges in stumbling over unseen roots, rocks, sand dunes or the broken husks of rotting flesh golems. Therefor they get lots of free attacks, at the back of your golem's head, while hes face down in entrails. Last Edited: Sep 11, 2008, 6:43 am |

Hmmm. I don't have the stats in front of me, but I seem to remember taking less damage at night. Not that I time my attacks by the time of day, just anecdotal evidence. I might be remembering incorrectly at that. I do remember getting more damage from the female giant though. |

Night penalties are twofold, accuracy and reduced movement. I often take loads more damage at night when I attack because even though we are both slower, I have to run to the monster, and I frequently run into his slightly longer range before closing to my melee range a round later, giving the monster a free round of attacks at full energy. Though I have not recorded enough data to statisticly say one way or the other if the monsters have the same accuracy penalty we would. -Fluffy |

Monsters I can kill during the day with minor injuries frequently knock off limbs at night. I don't hunt at night anymore. I'm only level 7 though, a lot of my clanmates say they don't have issues with it because their level bonus overrides the penalty to even out in their favor at night. |

Also, let me toss this into the pot: some creatures are flagged as "nocturnal," meaning that they don't suffer any penalties at night. :) Kep |

Oh lovely. So my thinking that monsters don't suffer the penalty was partly right U_U I wish I knew which ones were which. |

im still learning the game but will there be nocturnal eyes that could be created? A night power source that could be powered by the moon? Different moon phases to add different night bonuses, could even boost/hinder the night power source. Is there a moon during the night in this game? |

So far there are no items connected with the lunar cycle, so moon phases have no effect whatsoever on golems. Some monsters are supposedly nocturnal so do worse damage at night than during the day. If you are concerned about the effects of the phase of the moon, you should probably be more wary of the magi themselves. The males tend to get kind of hairy and long in the tooth. The females...well... >_> |

To be more specific, there are different types of lanterns which can reduce/eliminate the two different penalties, movement speed and miss chance. |
