I've added a trial game voting site thing to the bottom of pages as a means of generating a little more traffic to Muelsfell. Voting on these sites raises Muelsfell's rank there, meaning more people see the link and (in theory) try the game. A popularity contest, simply put.

To make the links a bit more useful, I've also added some incentive to get people to vote once a day: 100gp per vote. Once you've voted on each site, that site should then vanish from your available list.

By being at the bottom, it should also be unobtrusive enough that folks can easily ignore it if they're not interested.

Everything about this is subject to change. If the incentive proves too high, I'll lower it; likewise, I'll raise it if it's not worth the effort. And I'll remove it entirely if it proves to be cluttering up the page too much.

As always, let me know of problems, etc.

I could really do without the flood of reports I get for doing them all...

After voting the apexwebgaming and sweetonlinegames links didn't disappear.

Thought maybe the vote hadn't gone through but clicking again they told me I'd already voted. Wasn't really paying attention so not sure if I got the money for them or not.

They vanished for me, but then came back when I logged in just now.

Each of those sites does something slightly different with how they track votes and handle incentive, so I would be very surprised if there's no finetuning for me to do.

I'm away this weekend, so tweakage may have to wait until Sunday night or Monday morn (I'm able to read the forums/messages in case of emergency problems).

Thanks very much for taking the time to vote. :)

Stayed for me as well, and I did notice that no gold was received for those votes. Using FF3 in Vista, just in case it matters.

When I voted, I got 1000gp for the first site, then nothing after voting for the rest. I'll edit this with a yes/no when I can vote again tonight if it repeats.

Apex and Sweetonline in particular handle incentive differently than the others. I'm playing around with it right now and trying to see what's going on (I can't force those two sites to trigger since I get stopped by the once-a-day restrictions just like anyone else).

@Kaelas, which was the first site you voted on that gave you the 1000gp? That shouldn't happen at all off one vote -- 100gp is hardcoded in -- so if you can repeat it, let me know ASAP. Are you sure it wasn't a case of voting on 10 different sites without refreshing the vote page or noticing your gp going up?

Got it to work again. I think it might have be because I opened all the vote sites at once then refreshed. Then I voted in each one, while refreshing between each vote. So I think some of the sites give you the incentive before you actually vote or something. So it's not that the first site is giving me 1000 gp but rather I'm getting the money without actually voting. And then when I did do all the verification stuff and vote, I didn't get money afterward.

Some do give it before you vote; some wait for a vote confirmation.

Being that the vote stuff is someone else's code, I unfortunately can't confirm that a vote is being made unless the other site sends back a confirmation to me.

I am, of course, looking into a way around this. And if a lot of people don't follow through on the vote, I'll obviously have to reduce the reward significantly, but that's not a problem at the moment. Most people are following through, and it's certainly appreciated. :)

SweetOnlineGames has gone 2 days now saying I have already voted, when I havent voted for it in those 2 days. All of the others refresh and I vote for each one, but SweetOnlineGames says I have already voted. Apex is down there too, but i wasn't paying attention to the message it gave me the first time I clicked on it, as I was paying attention to SweetOnlineGames.
I am using IE7 on XP

Voted again today, and Apex let me vote, but didn't give any money, and Sweet still says I already voted, all the rest are working and giving the correct money for me.

Apex and Sweetonline never seem to let me vote; I've always "already voted today"

I found that if I go directly to their site instead of from Muelsfell, I can vote... so I think something with the forwarding code is screwing things up. Not sure what since I can't see their code.

Kinda tricky to fix, since I have to try something, vote, then wait a day to try another fix. Heh. Patience while I work on those two.

Apex worked properly for me today, but sweetonlinegames despite saying my vote worked still doesn't have it's link vanish.

Yup, I fixed Apex the other day. I've contacted the SweetOnlineGames admin to help track down why theirs is failing, but not yet heard a response.

Google is saying that the MPOG Top 200 site tries to run malware on your comp. Or at least it is for me. Can't remember the name on the actual website but that is the name on the link.

I haven't seen this myself, but I've removed this site from the list just to be safe.

I just saw it today, I don't know if it was a setting on my comp or Google itself.

SweetOnlineGames let me vote today, but did not give the bonus money and is still showing at the bottom of the page(is the only one left after clicking through them all).

SweetOnlineGames didn't let me vote the first time (showing as already voted) that I joined the game, and has said the same ever since (including today).

SweetOnline, among others, records IP addresses to keep track of votes. Either their system is not updating properly each day or someone else with the same (or as far as it checks) IP address could be voting.

Chaos doesn't log in anymore, so there ought not to be anyone else using my IP address logging into muelsfell.
