Right now I'm leaning slightly towards Items/Melee over Items/Defensive, but not by much, so I'll rip apart, I mean, present counterarguments to ZugZug's argument as a devil's advocate, not so much a Con to his Pro. A.1. We should not base our actions around the actions of other clans-- unless the other clans' actions include "assault on TKHI". They may change their minds anyway. A.2. There are at least 2 for-sure PvP clans at the moment, the NWO and the Angelic Knights, even if you could count the membership of the Knights without taking your mittens off.... Add in the PvP faction of the ToMU clan, and there's, um, two-and-a-half PvP clans right there. Though I doubt any of 'em would tangle with us right now. A.3. When I started, I had no desire for PvP, till I realized I could get better XP throwing my starter fleshy at other magi's higher-level golems. So now I dabble in PvP, for the XP, but not for alignment or for raiding or for generally causing trouble. A.4. Heh. No argument there. The current roster has some serious firepower as it is. A.5. Someone with a tricked-out copper golem. Otherwise the point stands, and is slightly better than "why would someone bother attacking a fully-armored golem?" (answer: someone looking for XP). B.1. Granted-- though that's only one reason (not wanting to be counterattacked by 20 ticked-off magi is likely a far more compelling reason). B.2. I disagree-- taking a fully-armored golem hunting would be useful if you didn't want to massively repair your golem after every hunt. Though it's true weaponry would be better for retaliation than armor. B.3. See A.1. B.4. No argument there! After further review, I'm more inclined towards Items/Melee than before. (Or Items/Ranged, but I think I'm in the minority there.) |

Rebuttal- By specializing in areas others are not, when clans are in it will give us a niche for new members deciding which clan to align with. We have some of the top players so we already have a strong clan base and it appears our view on pvp is that we won't start a fight, but we will finish it. Defenses can be gotten around no matter what if the person/clan is persistant enough. I'd rather others have the mindset of "I won't attack them because I don't dare want them to attack back" rather than "I won't attack them because they have a big pita defensive structure to get around." As for weapons and hunting, I still use my starter fleshy a lot. Having him able to get some exp AND kill something would be nice. An armored and armed lower level golem should be able to take on monsters that it couldn't normally, thus meaning more exp AND loot. I am against ranged because unless you have a premie account and can change your golem's stance, I think a ranged weapon used in normal stance would be a disadvantage. |

After sitting on the fences and evaluating the options, I would like to petition for membership. Assuming that I meet the requirements (checks pulse, 40 beats per minute, check), I would throw my vote towards melee secondary. I'm almost at the 5th level of armor, so defense will be not as important for me personally. And weapons are cool. Of course this is coming from a guy who uses large sharp point accents to his home decor, so take it for what it is worth. Good pros and cons there ZugZug. |

I was going to offer a re-rebuttal but 1) ZugZug, your points make too much sense, and 2) I stumbled so hard over the 'big pita defensive structure', I was wondering how a workshop encased in flatbread would work before realizing, oh yeah, acronym. And good, more armorers in the clan means I don't have to push Armor any further. Which would be great for you guys, except all my spare iron is earmarked for Grave 15 and its 41k iron requirement.... |

Mmmmm, flatbread. Flatbread is fairly tough and could be a decent protective workshop barrier. And golems would be too distracted by the tasty exterior to bother going inside and raiding stuff. ;) Thanks for the compliments guys, it is rare that I compose a logical, sensible thought and manage to express it adequately to others. ;) Good to know on armor, I haven't done anything with it. I'm slowly working on being the eyes and powersource specialist, although I have a very, very long way to go. |

Zug^2-- good points, thanks for the post. Ileazar-- That's one hell of an investment. Do you really need bone that badly? If so, I'm sure the guild members have more than enough bone to satisfy your needs, just ask.Last Edited: May 6, 2008, 9:10 pm |

Must... resist... off-color comments.... Grave 15 is the req for Bone Golem 4. I'm just scared what the req for Grave 20 is.... Oddly enough, Quarry 15 is a req for Stone Golem 3. Yeah, that's a ways away.Last Edited: May 8, 2008, 12:21 am |

Gracias Joachim. Ileazar, I can hook you up with extra iron. I don't have any real use for it and am constantly capping out at 20k. I'm looking for glass to make and sell glass and crystal eyes and money so I can get my lvl 7 Library. I'm happy to give it to you well below market value. |

Thanks, ZugZug, I appreciate the offer, but it won't help much at the moment, since I'm >10k away in three different primaries... and then I'll be able to build a Bin big enough to hold >40k and I can concentrate on the Grave.... Hmm. I wonder... if no one else has higher than a Grave 14, then I can truthfully say I'm the #1 Source of bone in Muelsfell.... Hey, when's that mixer with the Avae Demma Vanaadt? (I have no idea why I just thought about that....) |

Yeah, at the cost of 48 experience debt, and at least 120 motivation. :P And I still have your Mid-Plate. Worth a lot more than a couple pelvises. (Okay, the three light plates and the ruby eyes cut that deal a little close, but we win some, we lose some) I'm just saying, you could have conquered a continent with the enthusiasm you took to banging my pelvis. ;) |

Okie doke. The clan has spoken (well, most of you anyway). We are going with "Items" as our primary and "Melee Weapons" as our secondary. Thanks for all the input, both through PMs and the Forums. Sheeesh. I never realized what a bloodthirsty bunch you guys are (and that's not necessarily a bad thing :D). And speaking of bloodthirsty, I'm pleased to announce that Rigby will be the head of our Security Services Department. If there is anyone that's being a constant headache and/or just needs a spanking, please let Rigby know so that he can organize an appropriate response. I'm also pleased to announce the following promotions. Rigby will be our Archduke and Caduceus will be one of our Dukes. Ninomai has turned down her appointment to Duchess, so there is currently one Duke/Duchess position open. If you feel that you can fulfill the position, please send me a PM (no bootlicking or begging please). If no one can provide me with a convincing argument, the position will be awarded on merit. We will also need forum moderators in the near future. If you are considering or are already non-PvP, please drop me a PM and let me know. And congratulations to Dilvish for reaching double digits. -Joachim Sovereign Magistrate, Tench-Kisaragi Heavy Industries...and your buddy. Last Edited: May 7, 2008, 9:07 pm |

And I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords. Seriously though I think I also agree that melee secondary sounds like fun. I just cant wait for it all to happen so we can start playing with it all. Roll on friday. Marnen p.s. One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the ants will soon be here. |

Right now, I'm level 4 armor, closing in on level 5 Eyes-up to ruby, I working so I can't access my library right now. Power Source-Elemental gems Golems: Level 2 Iron, a few more levels of foundry (need to get to 18) and I'll be at level 3. I've got 5 researches left so I'm gonna have to give up trying to master everything. |

I'm planning to create a specific thread just for this purpose on our private clan forum once it goes online. I'll expect every member to list what his levels and specializations are...and if need be, assign certain researches (that we're weak in) to willing members. ok so I had a go at a bit of pig Latin using http://www.tranexp.com:2000/Translate/result.shtml not easy! I tested a number of versions translating them from English to Latin and then back again. Most got broken :( but these didn't: we build = nos constructum we build and destroy* = nos constructum quod everto *started with the word destroy but it translated back as weaken so I changed word to demolish and it translated back as destroy. would suggest other people have a go to see what we can come up with. Although my best 'thing' so far is Lvl 1 Bone golem, I would be willing to try and specialize on something that wasn't otherwise covered. I have no real interest in an official position, but I'm more than happy to help out with whatever I can. Anxiously awaiting Friday morning, scare |
