hi kep just had a great idea.
i've noticed that some clans have no members in them but they are still active in the sense that they haven't been disbanded. is this a bug or are you going to leave it as it is?
because if you leave it as it is i was thinking that perhaps you could add another part of the clan warfare to the game, by allowing clans to fight over the empty clans for resources.
who ever wins takes all the resources and they get put in to the clans warehouse.
just wondering what you thought of the idea
regards

I thought this thread was about clans with desserts.

I actually joined one of those clans temporarily, and there weren't a lot of resources to speak of.

I could be wrong, but most of those clans are empty because people didn't want to put the time (or money) into them.

I left the clan because in order to do anything in the clan, I would have to be promoted by a clan official that didn't exist. I think there should be an IF{members = 0} loop added to the code that will change the base membership from wizard-knight to duke/duchess.

Right now we can only add resources, golems, and borrow weapons, but we can't build weapons if there aren't any to borrow. Being able to build buildings as well as weapons would be sure to fix this, and being able to invite members would go a long way twoards revitalizing those otherwise wasted chunks of memory.

There aren't a lot of resources in the abandoned clans because there are no members to donate, either from the members leaving or becoming inactive. So taking resources is kind of...non-existent.

Whether Kep wants to make it so that someone joining an abandoned clan becomes the sovereign magistrate or disband a clan that has been abandoned is up to him.

P.S. Malakor used the wrong "desert" because he is blind and is using a program to read the text for him.

P.P.S. Yami...save your subjugation/brainwashing of the masses for the clan forum.

This is a good point. If my memory serves, at one time, I think we had a newly created Clan with no members, the SM jumped ship right after creating it rather than disbanding. I think Kep cleaned that one up, but I know the disbanded Clans still show up if you are doing a Clan-type search.

With the obligations people have outside of Muelsfell, if this does get implemented, I think there should be a rather lengthy time-limit involving inactivity by the SM or other Clan officers (since Archduke/duchess can promote others to the SM position I think, haven't actually tried it.) Maybe up to 3 months time...but that's just me.

On the light gray bar, under clan->clan permissions (scroll down the page) it says that archdukes can "Change Member Ranks/Titles" (row 12).

But row 11, "Set Joining Requirements" isn't something you give someone who wasn't (couldn't) be invited, and row 10 "Exile a member" is not only redundant at this stage, it potentially places too much power in Member Zero's hands.

Duke/duchess permissions end at row 7, but I'm wonder what the difference is between "Begin a New Item Project" (row 5) and "Choose an item project for the clan" (row 13).

Dukes can queue up items to be built but can't research them in the library, I believe is the distinction.

Yami is right about the distinction between the two queues. Duke/Duchess can fill the armoury, Archduke/Archduchess and SM decide the path the Clan can follow.

As for the Archduke/Archduchess promotion ability. I meant I've never tried promoting anyone to SM. :) In theory I guess I could, I can select the rank after all, but I can do pretty much anything I want to as a Archduchess, with the exception of propsals in the Senate.

I had a grand scheme to hijack MAGIER once, but that came to an anticlimactic end when I found out I couldn't promote anyone to a rank above my own, or demote anyone of higher rank.

There's a daily update which cleans up disbanded clans, but it doesn't check inactive members.

I'm wary of putting in anything that automatically demotes/promotes members due to inactivity as it in all probability would do this to the wrong person at some point.

Instead, what I'd like to do is have an internal clan vote automatically initiated to assign a new magistrate if the clan goes too long with no active magistrates. This is on hold until I get further on the spell system.
