"..a bachelorette party?"
Yamiko blinked a few times, confused. She'd not even considered the possibility, what with all the memorizing she had to do, the press releases, the introductions, the slow assimilation of a new identity, not to mention a new religion. Idly, she wondered when she'd had time for pure, nonpolitical fun in the past few weeks since the engagement.
"Well I suppose it wouldn't hurt, but... wait. You just want an excuse to blow things up, don't you?" she asked, her eyes narrowing to consider the young magus before her. Was he up to his old tricks again or seriously missing her presence? She must have asked herself this a dozen times since deciding to accept his invitation to meet in public, and still had no definitive answers. |

Yamiko attempts to look appalled, but can't manage it for the grin that spreads across her face. She wouldn't admit it aloud, but she missed the miserable bastard and his explosions. The religious life was too quiet for her liking.
"Ah, no, that's quite alright, Sconi. I think we can do without them. Though if you know a good stripper - male or female, I'm not exactly picky." |

"Bah, irrelevant for the moment..." his features take on a concerned undertone, although the grin remains, seemingly plastered," The real question is what made you decide to elope. Last I saw you, not even a month ago, you were leaving my workshop with Viktor, and hadn't even mentioned seeing anyone..." |

Yamiko waves her hand a little. "Bah, it's not an elopement per se, we plan to have a big public wedding. We're trying to find a good priest we can both agree on - you'd be surprised how difficult that is for a religious order! - and working on guest lists and all that."
Aware she's dodging the question, Yami sighs. "But as far as what made me leave... let's just say I was offered better prospects than I had." |

Yami stares at Sconibulus, flabberghasted, as her bronze companion, responding to some subliminal cue, steps up angrily, silently threatening the boy. Yami waves a hand for the bronze to step back, swallowing hard.
"...is that really all you think of me?" she asks, in a dry whisper. "That I care nothing for the Clan, that I'm just some whore for the highest bidder?!" |

"No place to go? Why did you need to go somewhere? One shouldn't confuse motion with direction." His tone softens a bit, it's almost impossible for him to stay angry with her.
"You have a home, and a family in all but blood. Come back to us, postpone the wedding, make sure it's what you really want. Decisions made in desperation are often regretted." |

| Yamiko shakes her head. "It was being made abundantly clear I wasn't welcome there. For Darkness' sake, I was accused of being a spy and stripped of my titles! At the Angelic Order, they don't know me, and not knowing me is better than not trusting me, because I can earn their trust if I work hard and keep my nose clean, but..." |

Yami frowns at his allegations, but can't quite come up with a way to refute them, so she just keeps it to herself. Sconi can think all he wants - she knows the inner Coyne, she tells herself, and he's far better than his reputation.
Yamiko blinks her eyes a little. "Kaelas didn't want me to go?"
"Right, and his sentiments have been shared by all I've spoken with." He says, tacitly omitting the exact number, "How can you claim that you were not welcome?"

I was going to run away when I saw my workshop in ruins; I went to my basement and was working on a few projects when you were sent to fetch me with your lovely posse. Which ended so well." |
