Hi Malakor

Just started to farm the Mountain Giant - Southmount, and getting shed loads of gems. Also found the bog mummy - Mosswash, drops a fair few if you want something a little less ouch.

I have been investigating that question myself.

This is not really enough statistics to draw any definite conclusions on which is best, but these are my records, ordered by average number of gems:

monster | victories | total gems

Giant Swamp Leech | 4 | 98
Bog Mummy | 6 | 146
Dust Mummy | 13 | 312
Snowfield Wight | 1 | 24
Bronze Dwarf | 3 | 72
Blight Roach | 11 | 263
Ambulatory Mushroom | 2 | 47
Gaunt Barghest | 1 | 23
Small Rock Elemental | 1 | 21
Kobold Nightshade | 4 | 82
Acid-borne Cougar | 2 | 37
Frostwight | 1 | 18
Skeletal Warrior | 1 | 15
Zombie Soldier | 1 | 14
Blue-banded Mountain Lizard | 7 | 91
Fungal Goblin | 1 | 10
Dybbuk Welp | 21 | 178
Rock Squid | 7 | 50
Brimstone Stalker | 6 | 8
Goblin Bandit | 4 | 0
Half-golem Abomination | 9 | 0
Kobold Archer | 3 | 0
Dire Unicorn | 2 | 0

Everything else from level 2 to 5: one victory, no gems.

There appears to be no sensible way to get a proper table layout in this forum, but I suppose this is tolerably readable.

Basically, any level two drops fair amounts of gems and glass, and the more spare room your golem has to carry it, the better results you get.

Higher levels can carry more, but it depends on the creature. The Yeti and Death Scavenger beetle carry gems as level 4's, the Beetle more than the Yeti. Again, carrying capacity limits what you haul away.

So stick to whats close/easy to kill. If you do want mass amounts, and can afford the motivation and repair costs, the really high monsters like the Giants and Walker drop hundreds at a time when they do drop gems. But you have to do a bunch of damage and be able to take a bunch. Which usually limits the amount you can carry.

edits: Talked to someone else located in Jaaron. They hit the mushroom with a bone 1 using wood and iron limbs and are sitting at around 40k gems. report getting from 30 - 60 gems per kill.
