Subject says all. Does having more than one shield help in any way? (As it kinda should realisticly?)

I dispute your assumption about the realistic benefits of using two shields.

Only way one person really gets a good benefit from two shields, is if one of them is being held by the person next to them. Hoplite warfare is an amazing trick.

The combat mechanics pull the best shield you're equipped with and use its stats (best meaning highest bonus, which in a shield's case would be miss chance).

The only benefit to having more than one shield is to have a spare in case a limb is lost. That may change in the future; I would like to have dual-wielding items one day, but it's not even on the to-do at this point.
