This is just a heads up: Sometime today/tonight I'll be going ahead with multi-account checks in various systems such as combat and the market. I was planning to wait until we were officially out of beta, but we've got a large enough number of players now that there's really no longer any added value to allowing it for testing. Since I realize some people may be playing from the same location (roommates, family members, etc), multi-account interaction will not be limited if both accounts are Premium status. As I've said before, this isn't a perfect solution, but it should help alleviate at least some of the multi-account issues. :) Kep |

Alas...our time has come to an end Or maybe it's just time for 2 premium accounts instead of one :P |

so - so long as they don't attack each other or sell to each other, non premium multi-account will fly? |

Non-prem multis: * Won't be able to trade with one another * Won't be able to attack one another * Won't be able to attack the same magus target within the same time frame (likely a matter of days rather than hours). The gift/trade system, which isn't live yet, will also check for multis. And I'm also debating on whether I should block multis from joining the same clans. It's an extremely modular check, so I can easily add it to other sections if it proves warranted. Kep |

My girlfriend plays as well, most of the time i get on from my house and she from hers. But sometimes when I'm over there i remember that i have something to do. Do i have to stop this as well or will I be saved since they mostly access from different ip's? |

While you're both accessing it from the same computer, your magi won't be able to interact, but it shouldn't be a problem once you're back on your regular computers. Kep |

So my husband (Terian) tried to give me back the emerald eyes I lent him. (Though this time it was for 5500 flesh instead of 1 glass) but it didn't allow it. I'm guessing this is why? Makes more sense now I spose. Though. How do I go about getting those emerald eyes back? |

Good point, but i\'m obnoxiously honest. If that\'d \"break the rules\" I\'m not to keen on it. I set my own multi account (CubMagus) to inactive a few days ago cause I knew this was coming soon. So I dont wanna anger the mighty Kep ya know. However, if this is feasible would you be willing? lol We can work out a payment of some sort. {Edit} Nevermind. Looks like Pegga scooped up the trade.Last Edited: May 1, 2008, 2:23 am |

Thank you Pegga. I hope you all enjoy this game. It seems fun but it's a little over my head. I'm not much of a gamer like my hubby Enoch. More of a shoot em up type of guy. Thanks for the experience though! |

Will this trigger if two players are playing from a network? I don't forsee it being a problem until/unless you prevent people from joining the same clan, but my boyfriend and I live together and we tend to both access the game from our home network. |

Yes, that will likely trigger it. I'm leaning towards allowing clan joining, but disallowing multiple accounts from donating to the same clan (since that's the main way to "push" a clan with multis). By the way, Terian, even if you've gone inactive, you can still login to read your messages and the forums. Feel free to check back now and then; I may have added new features that are to your liking! :) Kep |

But then we'd not be able to both donate... perhaps you could install a manual override for special cases and we could petition you to mark our accounts as non-multi or something? I'm sure I can't be the only one in this situation |

No, not the only one. :) My son and I play from the same network at home. Luckily, I can also play from time to time at work, so it's not so much of a handicap for us. If Kep could be able to work something like that it would be great, although its kind of on the It would be nice if... list for right now. |

Erm... yes... my wife and dog and child of indeterminate gender all have accounts... can you flag them as non-multis? I swear they're not all mine. *twirls mustache fiendishly* |

After playing with the multi-tracking for a couple of days, I decided it'll work for now as is. Not perfect, but passable. Yes, that does mean it'll give a false positive now and then when sending multiple accounts to attack another magus, but the trading with/attacking the other account directly works fine. Yes, it also means folks will need Prem accounts to trade with their friends and family (but that's sort of why I made Prem tickets tradeable - so those who can't afford or don't want to can still have a reasonable chance of gaining Prem service). My apologies for the inconveniences. Eventually I'll consider an option to flag another account as a linked account, but right now that's too large a project to tackle right now. :) Kep |

I don't know if this falls under this topic or not, but i've got multiple computers at my home. I recently tried attacking a player and it came up with a "player recently atacked by an account similar to yours" message. I'm assuming that it was me, as i'm 99.9% percent sure no one else plays Muelsfel at my home, and since i only have one account i found it strange that i wouldn't be able to attack from the account, even if it is from a different computer. |

Also had this problem - except I haven't changed computers. It' s unlikely someone in my house is logging on and attacking the same magi as me two minutes after I attack 'em. |

Kep explained in the Bugs thread that this is an accident with some new code. Should be resolved later today. :) Edit: Copied Keps response in the bug thread... A result due to confusion between the older combat mechanics and the newer and more strict multi account checks. Basically you can think of it like this: Combat: Hey, tell me if these are linked. Account Check: No, they're good. Combat: I'm gonna block 'em. Account Check: No, they're GOOD. Let them through. Combat: Okay. I'm gonna block them. Account Check: Why did you even bother asking? Hopefully fixed; there's still some mismatched code between old and new. Let me know ASAP if there's still problems. Incidently, the downtime for today is to address the mismatched code issue. Though it should be a mostly "invisible" change, it's fairly broad and requires I close things up for a few minutes to handle it. :) Kep
And in totally unrelated matters, Keps coding explanation sounds like some meetings I've sat in on here at my work. O_oLast Edited: Jul 17, 2008, 4:46 pm |
