She couldn't believe her luck. No sooner had she begun to ask around than she'd found out the would-be bride herself had been seen talking to a young magus by the name of Sconibulus fairly often - he didn't seem to be unapproachable, so she approached his workshop, notebook in hand. Based on her research, she reasoned, he was a bit of a loose cannon; therefore, to entice him to be in a good mood, she brought with her a pair of emerald eyes she'd received a passing grade on. As she approaches the workshop, she curtsies to the golem on duty before knocking sharply on the door.

The doorknob moves slightly, and a popping sound is heard, followed by a rushing hissing sound. A scrap of paper rushes under the door carried by a wave of warm air.
"Dammit, still no..." a voice sounds within, and footsteps are hear walking towards the door. It opens, and Sconibulus, soaked in what appears to be sweat, stands before her. Behind him are what appear to be five translucent golems, cloudier than glass, and not as reflective. On the floor at his feet is what looks like it might be a small tarp of thin tan material.

Jellikal blinks a little, her hair losing some of its carefully-orchestrated volume due to the humidity. This... was not what she expected. However! It just went to show what a genius inventor he was - after all, the best didn't care what their hair looked like, did they? She smiles broadly, clutching her notebooks to her chest as she holds out a hand to shake. "Mr Arquolin? I'm Jellikal Stanton, I'm doing a newspaper article for the Tattler and I was wondering if I could have a few moments of your time?"

"I believe that depends on the topic," he smiles and shakes her hand, then leads her into the room. He looks over to the constructs and says "Guys, go wait in the corner... and try not to touch anything." He looks back at the girl and confesses "There were a full dozen this morning... these things aren't that easy to work with."
He leads her into a small kitchen/dining room, and pulls out a seat for her. "Care for a drink?" he asks, already pouring a mug of some sort of rich red liquid for himself.

Jellikal beams at him, sitting daintily and placing her notebooks on the table. "That would be lovely, yes. I'm actually doing a feature about your friend, Ms Kuronue - I am correct in assuming you are friends, yes? If it's not too much trouble, I wanted to ask some questions about her."

He pours her a mug as well, handing it to her and saying "I'm not sure exactly what this is, but it's delicious. I get it from a little shop in town, think it's some sort of exotic fruit juice. It certainly gets incredibly strong when allowed to ferment, but I think I'd prefer my wits at the moment."
He takes a seat, "Ahh, the bane of my existence..." he starts, smiling, "What would you know of her?"

Jellikal smiles politely, no longer sure of herself. Wait, well, if they're enemies maybe he'll be more likely to talk. But did he mean it? Most people don't smile when talking about someone they actually hate. But why would he call her that if they were friends? Still. Best to start digging.

"Only what everyone knows. Which is why I'm here." She pulls out some parchment and a pen, hand poised to take notes. "Did she tell you what happened with her engagement?"

"If everyone knows, why do you need me?" he raises an eyebrow, "What's to tell? I'm sure that pious a-, I mean I'm sure it was just a matter of her coming to her senses."

Jellikal raises an eyebrow, jotting this down with a soft hum. "I see, so, it's safe to say you did not like her fiancee, then? Was this a popular opinion?"

"I'm not sure how popular it is, I don't concern myself much with public opinion. I just feel that he sees the church as the most convenient vehicle to power, and to consolidate his claimed piety took on a title reserved for the best of them, one he cannot possibly have legitimate claim to." He replies, sipping at his beverage.

Jellikal's pen scratches furiously across the parchment. "Do you have any evidence that he's a charlatan? Did Ms Kuronue say anything to that effect?"

"Evidence? He's got a pulse, that should be evidence enough... but no, she said nothing to that effect." He sighs and sits back, putting his feet up on the table, "I'll need to remember to keep my guards well-stocked after this... oh well. Any further questions?"

"A pulse?" she asks, startled, and blinking a little. She glances briefly at his feet, crossing her ankles a little more daintily as though to reinforce the difference between her immaculate and dainty appearance and his rather less tidy appearance and manners.

"Did Ms Kuronue mention fighting with Saint Coyne?"

He shrugs, "I don't recall her mentioning a fight, but I must admit I didn't explore the subject. It can probably be assumed that one occurred, but as to the details, well, you'd probably have as much luck querying a golem as my poor self."

Jellikal smiles a little to reassure him. "Why did they get together in the first place? I'd read that our clans used to be enemies?"

"I was a little bit locked in the basement for a while, so I don't know much about their meeting. Yeah we were enemies with Magier for a bit, but once they'd been knocked down a few dozen pegs we had no reason to quarrel. I'd be surprised if she was the only student swept off her feet by a dashing knight."

Jellikal blushes a little. "Mr Arquolin, I'd like to think our clan's girls have a little more sense than that." She jots down notes, flipping over the parchment. "Locked in the basement?"

"There's a few hundred of them, and I'd bet at minimum 6% would be infatuated with a 'Knight in Shining Armour', even with only a similar ratio reciprocating we'd end up with a match or three, and men are notoriously more tractable then women." he replies, completely ignoring the question.

Jellikal frowns. "However, there are other knights in shining armor than the MAGIER knights, and they're far less risky. Locked in a basement?" she continues, cooly.

Sconi waves his hand, "It's not really important to your article, suffice to say Yami caused an explosion that I got blamed for."

"What, getting the blame for explosions? All the time, Although I will admit that they are usually my fault. Suppose I'm lucky to still have all my fingers." he sets down his cup and waggles them, "although it does appear we're getting farther and farther from the original topic, either you're a ethercast journalist by trade, or you're not a journalist at all. What do you really want?"

Jellikal blushes. "I just want to piece together the truth, Mr Arquolin. Inquiring minds deserve to know. After all, celebrity gossip is one of the best selling points of the Tattler - it's where it got its name, after all. And what better celebrity gossip than a huge coverup involving two such prominent lovebirds?"

"Which is exactly why you're exploring my time in the basement I suppose? If you are in fact a reporter, a statement which grows flimsier as this interview lengthens, why are you so easily distracted by what's on public record in the University Chamber of Judicial Affairs? Wouldn't your time be better spent telling me who you are, what you want, and why you want it? I tend to be a fairly reasonable person, if you can't handle that then I suggest you seek out someone a bit more gullible."
He stands up and steps over to the counter where he left the pitcher and starts to refill his cup, "More juice?" he asks sweetly.

Jellikal narrows her eyes a little - not in anger, merely focusing her attention better. This was going to be a tougher puzzle than she thought - she'd have to actually rise to the challenge. She points the feathered end of her pen at him.

"When did you first learn of the breaking of the engagement and how?"
