There's such a limited selection of avatars; my magus ICly dyes her hair a lot, and she's about ready for a change, but all the avatars seem tied in my head to some other user. I wish I could design my own avatar using a dollmaker like Candybar and then upload it. You could release the "premie-only" avatars as for everyone and let premie users upload their own, maybe? |

Actually I kinda like that idea. Probably cause I hate lookin like someone else hehe. Not sure how hard it would be to do, but it couldn't be that hard. Afterall most forums let you upload your own avatar, or at least let you link it from somewhere like photobucket. |

I would love it too, as it my avatar, while pretty close, does not quite match the character she represents. |

Oh yes, linking from an external site wouldn't strain the server as much and would be highly acceptable. |

And any budding artists could do commissions for premium tickets, I like it :) |

*sigh* Prior to the avatars, but after told they were coming, I worked long and hard on mine. I suck at drawing, so I was very happy with how it was coming out. And then was told that uploading an avatar wouldn't be in the cards as it would throw the theme and flow of the website off. Which makes some sense. I'd really not like to hit someone's profile and see <insert politician name here>'s face staring back at me. Still, there should be more avatar selections, even if just premium... And a wonderful thought just hit me. Would a simple color editor for an avatar work? It would still be the same face, but you'd be able to select eye color, hair color, clothes, and such? That right there would add a lot of variety using existing stock. |

Hehe yeah thats a problem with allowing customs and if Kep wants to keep the avatars all with a similiar art style, I can accept that. But I really do like the idea of bein able to customise them a bit. I picked mine cause I love purple and it was the most purple avatar there hehe. |

yeah, the issue is that, well, the site all has a similar theme right now... but at the cost of everyone looking exactly the same. Maybe a dollmaker system, where you pick one of a list of hairs, one of a list of eye types, one of a list of skin colors, maybe some accessories? |

I like the dollmaker idea, or even just the color picker. Sounds like fun! |

While theme is important, the main reason is that uploading images is difficult to make truly secure. I've been a little paranoid about security. I have another set of avatars from one of the artists almost ready, and after those are added I'll look at allowing links to other sites. So you could upload to Photobucket or Imageshack, then put the link in your profile and it'd use that image as your avatar. Kep |
