Just so you guys know, I had some tweaks ready to go last night for golems of types bone and up.

However I decided what I really need right now is better admin-level tracking of combat. I already have some stats, but they're not particularly robust. What I'll be doing today and possibly tomorrow is working on that so that I can better gauge how I should finally tweak golems.

In the meantime, just do what you've been doing. There's no need to send reports anymore -- once I get better information being relaying to me, that'll happen automatically. :)

another suggestion. when you attack, in the results screen, add how a message for how long he will take to return.

The changes to combat will go into effect sometime tonight.

These changes will mean flesh golems will no longer be the little whirling dervishes of death they happen to be at the moment. Higher level and more powerful golems will have a clear advantage against lesser foes. For example, a flesh golem will no longer be the one doing the most damage when in combat with an iron golem.

Along with these changes will be my new tracking code, which should let me get a much clearer picture of how game balance is being affected.

Please use caution tonight if you regularly attack people with strong golems!

Also the time until your golem returns will be added to the combat results.

The changes to combat are now live in the game.

Play around with things and let me know if you encounter problems!

It seems to me that clay(and from numbers I've seen, probably wood, but haven't tried it myself)golems are rather lackluster. There's a fair motivation cost increase over flesh and I believe bone, but a seemingly substantial speed loss, and something of a damage loss as well when compared to bone and even wood.

Being that there's no level 3s or 4s near me I gave 2 different level 2s a try, but despite my level advantage I failed to kill both of them. Took 4 rounds just to get into melee range, and damage wasn't terribly impressive either. Even against the practice dummy I seem to consistently do worse than my friend's bone golems.

It does have a lot of carry weight, so it can be made fairly resilient, but it seems pretty pointless if it can't even kill a level 2 monster it's "too strong" to get xp from.

My wood golem sucks, he cant kill any level 2, despite the fact he should count as a level 3.

Hmm, my wood golem (lvl 1) doesn't have much difficulty with level 2 monsters. Even does the level 4 in Mosswash with about a 60% victory rate. Granted he is in Iron Studs armor on all locations, not sure what you are using. That may be the difference?

A wood golem is actually a level 3 (base) golem.

The problem wasnt how much damage he was taking, but how much he was doing. Im getting slightly better results now that Ive updated him to 12% eyes and a 150 power source. Still nothing stellar though.
