OK, so it's not the fastest or most efficient method of generating coins... but I don't think there is such a mechanism in the game. So we'll default back to 'use all available resources'. Anyway, in addition to working, hunting, raiding, and selling, another way to make money is by selling golems as salvage. With a little bit of experimenting, I think I've figured out the minimum needed to make some extra coin. 1. Gather necessary items: --a power source, any strength --a Type A permit (unless you want to salvage your stone or higher golem, then Type B is needed) 2. Make these golem pieces on your worktable (any material will do): --a torso --a right leg --a left leg --one arm, either right or left [edit: oops, maybe not-- see below] 3. Attach the two legs and one arm to the torso, and install the power source. 4. Send the golem out to fight something. Make sure it gets damaged. If it doesn't get damaged, send it back out till it is. 5. Remove the power source. 6. Move the golem from the worktable to the basement. 7. Go to Jaaron and sell your slightly-damaged golem to Mikke. 8. Profit! Some numbers: I've tried it using a Bone 1 torso with Bone 1 legs and arm and have gotten around 400 coins for each golem. Bone 1 torso: 3000 bone, about an hour to build Bone 1 parts: 1200 bone each, about a half-hour to build each So, I invest 6600 bone, 2 1/2 hours, and 6 motivation for a return of around 400 coins and 3 XP. That's still more than you'll get for selling the bone on the market (if you even can), and you can do other stuff while building the parts. Heck, if you work an hour after setting each piece to build, in four hours you'll get your scrappable golem on top of four hours worth of wages. Or you could not build the arm, and send it against someone with a strong golem out(three levels higher than yours). That way you get 10 exp, alignment shift(if thats what you're going for) and you get the money. Another thing, the amount of damage does correspond to the amount of money you get, so if you fix it except for one point of damage you'll get more money. |

Or if you're feeling really minimalistic, build one leg, and have somebody else attack you. :P This process is much more efficient if you have a premium account. Then you can bake up a batch of golems all at once, all while working. :o Fixing it before selling it I've realized is a bad bargain. Each hitpoint only counts for one gold, and the market still says 50:1 is a bad deal for primary resources. |

Yeah, that's why I said 3 XP instead of 10. I could send it out against a Clay 2 and get the 10 XP, but even fully armored there's not likely to be much left of my Bone 1 to salvage. Though I guess the arm's not necessary-- I was thinking the arm may be needed for initiating battle or to get XP. I would not be surprised to learn I was wrong. FatherLatour: Thanks for the conversion rate at salvage-- saves me some experimenting. It also means you can figure up almost exactly what kind of return you can get with various torsos and parts. AethenCrinitus: Thank you-- I love a good acronym! [grin] |

Actually, it's not 50:1 for the whole golem. There's a 'base' amount of money that you get even if it's 100% trashed. Most of the value of the golem is in this base amount actually, and not the hitpoints from the parts. You still get XP if your golem has no arms - but your opponent does not, which is annoying to them, but it didn't cost them anything either since you did no damage. There's an awesome super-secret fact about salvaging golems that lets you make pretty good money... my friend is currently making 1700-2000 money from about 7500 in primaries. |

And of course, if you told us, it wouldn't be a secret anymore, which is why you're just going to leave us hanging. Am I right? :P |

I think we're supposed to message him, so he can whisper it to us and act like it's a big personal favor. :P I know that trick :) ... I use it. :( T_T I'm a horrible person. |

lol Well, I wouldn't actually want primaries to skyrocket in price right now. I've actually got my primary income and monetary income relatively well balanced. Heck, just knowing it's possible should be a big enough clue. I'd trade the secret if someone could tell me a good way to get adamantine though. :) I really wonder if anyone is farming that mountain giant...Last Edited: May 11, 2008, 3:16 am |

Once I finish my current project, I'll have to try a bit more experimentation. Or maybe a lot more, whichever. Either way, I think Sterling's given enough information to increase one's efficiency at salvage. |
