Just wondering if it applys only to Stone Golems or any golem with a stone part? |

The spell description says both. Full Stone golems look to be getting the biggest boost, but partials look to be getting a partial boost. Last Edited: Jan 31, 2009, 11:51 pm |

I have just gotten to use this spell and I must say I am disappointed. A level 5 stone golem takes 17 motivation to attack the mountain giant from where I am. With Expedient sandstone it only brings the cost down by 5 to 12 motivation. I must say I was expecting a little more considering I am using a level 5 stone golem complete with all level 5 stone parts and there seems to be nothing else going for stone golems. I think this spell needs to be up tweaked or calculated by a different formula or in some way be made worth more of the investment. Sure I save a few motivation but elemental fury keeps the repair costs down a lot lower. |

It might be nifty if it reduced motivation below the 6 minimum? The new stables building is reducing all, so the spell is not very unique anymore. |

Ya that's not a whole lot mister Kep considering we have stables and all. |

Wow if the magic sandstone dropped the mot cost below 6 that would be a big draw for magic using clans. I image every magic-specialist would have a stoney tucked away! |

It would be over powered I just want it competitive (at least to a certain extent) with stables. |

Well, it could still be useful, depending on how far you're going. Base motivation for a Level 5 Stone golem is 19, if you're attacking something next door. Steam Engine is -9 motivation. You'd need your stables at least at level 4 to bring it down to 6 motivation to attack something on your front porch. If you're trying to get to something on the other side of the map, it could have it's uses. Ultimately, it's a limited spell with a limited scope. Then again, the stables really doesn't change that fact all that much. I've always thought that there are much more useful spells out there, even before the stables. ~Namebreaker |

Well the thing is with their current stats, I wouldn't even use them for 6 moti provided I have my stables high enough. The amount of damage they deal and speed is extremely poor to say the least. They have 1 real advantage over the lower golems and thats a higher strength for a slightly higher min damage per hit, but most other golems throw out a lot more hits and make up for that.(And this is considering the stone golem has a clan iron sword to give it 15 speed instead of that truly hideous 12) Now if expedient sandstone did actually lower the min moti cost to 3 or something, I could see a point to using them. Also expedient sandstone is a spell that should have been a personal one I think. Its specialised to a person who wants to use stone golems. I certainly wouldn't expect a clan to take a spell that is so specialised in its use, especially when they have the likes of flying anvil around, or even elemental fury. |

I was thinking a drop to 5 (with use of stables), if the spell cast cost wasn't too high to negate it's value. So if W-S costs X mot, it would still take X-trips to break even. But anything more than X trips would be the value of the spell. With high stables and high golem that's cheap hunting for as many minutes you can spare a day. With low stables and low golem thats a few extra XP/Score kills a day off your local. |

Expedient Sandstone would have been a great spell if it had put a speed mod of +5 on the golem +1 for every stone part. |

I guess I'll put it out there again. Can anybody inform me as to how Expedient sandstone functions with its new upgrade? |

Oh higher powers! I call upon thee to answer the question of how Expedient sandstone functions with its not so new now at this point buff. It seems this spell isn't worth it at all and that is sad since I like stone golems. |
