So, as things work now, experience is used for several things.

Level increases
Motivation increases
*Golem strength increases*

This may prove troublesome, as it forces magi to decide between making themselves stronger or making their golems stronger. Now having exp be the currency for level and motivation is good, but I think a new form of currency for golem strength should be put in.

The idea being that as you fight with a golem, based on the damage it does, it will gain its own stat points. After you get so many stat points, the golems strength would level itself up.

Because lets face it. Who here has actually leveled up their golems strength (more so than one or two points before realizing the benefits aren't worth losing exp that could be put towards magi level)? Of course it would be easier to gain xp and therefore easier to level up strength as you progress in levels, but golem strength upgrades should not be restricted to those of higher level. Not to mention all the experience that would be lost if your golem is destroyed.

And the rp writeoff? Well, doing a bunch of attacks with one golem should, by definition, make that one stronger, and not a different golem as you can currently do now.

Making strength based off the golems actual damage done seems like a win/win/win situation to me.

This actually happened to me. I got my starter fleshy to the point where it was killing the yeti 1/2 to 2/3 of the time (just with voidstone, emerald eyes and all iron bits except the chest if you are interested). I worked out that if i got it's damage up to +1 it would kill the yeti 100% of the time. It takes 1375 xp to get +10 strength. I'd got it to +8 and it got 4 crit's to the chest all in one round of combat (think it was round 2) annihilating it utterly ... nothing to salvage either :(. I had light plate on the chest but it obviously wasnt enough. 900 xp gone forever.

I now have another fleshy which I finally got to +10 strength (I also upgraded to medium plate on the chest and ruby eyes). It kills the yeti in round 4 or 5, every time. Also brings back a fair bit of loot.

Still it was a phenomenal investment in xp and I have not even really convinced myself it was worth it. 2275 xp could have got me 2 and a bit levels ... Oh well.

I agree with Poseidon that the current 'xp for golem strength' system is borked. I would hope that if it did get tweaked I could get a bit of my 2275 xp back though ;)

p.s. One side effect of slaughtering the yeti now is that I appear to be shooting up the leader board ... not sure that's a good thing though, was trying to stay off that initially ;)
