So, I decided to take a swing at that mountain giant...

2 rounds later...

A mountain giant topples, shaking the ground with the impact of its death.

Maybe my golem just had really good luck, I'll be doing some more testing (with a bit less armor so I might get some loot) to see.

Wow! The giant has finally fallen! Congratulations Sterling!

Let us know what you manage to carry away once you do it with less/lighter armor.

" For as long as anyone can recall, the mountain giants were the undisputed rulers of the Southmount. While encounters with these behemoths were always deadly affairs to say the least, they usually kept to themselves in the upper reaches. Lately, rumours have trickled down that the giants have met something tougher than they are -- though since the giants are easily capable of demolishing an iron golem, what that threat could be boggles the mind. "

Wonder if this description is new or was always like that. If it's new, that makes me very happy. :)

Anyway, I got my golem down to about 40% load.

As expected, the mountain giant lives in an adamantium mine. I get adamantium about 2/3rds of the time, and typically somewhere between 200 and 250 nuggets. Also, 500ish money per trip. Occaisional gems, nothing to write home about.

Wish the motivation 'bug' had not gotten fixed before I got to farm the sucker more, though, paying 14 motivation per trip will really hammer my XP gain rate. :P Not sure if I'm going to continue farming, or let it go, guess I'll see how close I am to an adamantium golem, when I finish the research.

I already am pretty close. And we can't move, as of yet.

Oh, I killed it with my flesh golem, muahahahah.

How does your giant-killin' golem measure up against the L10 straw dummy? Every time I try, I receive around 250+ in damage while only doling out only a little bit more than the giant has hit points (150). I'm wondering if there is a disconnect.

Against the straw dummy, my golem generally kills it in 3 rounds of fighting, doing 200+ damage, while the straw dummy generally does about the same to me.

My guess is that that the level 10 straw dummy is probably effective monster level 15 or so maybe. The level 9, however, seems appropriate as a level 9, the stone giant definitely does more damage than that.

So yeah, huge gap between the level 9 dummy and level 10 dummy.

adamanatine golems take 7500 just like coppers and bronzes, so good luck :) I'm on my way to farming it, but I know it'll be a long while.

My reasonably heavily armored level 2 iron golem, sporting emerald eyes and a voidstone did 102 and 140ish damage the 2 times I tried it, taking close to 200 damage each time. Unable to kill the giant with that setup it looks like.
