While hunting my nearby high level creature, I was using two tabs (IE 7.x) One with the combat result/'hunt another' screen and a second with the hunting golem for quick (non-premium) access to repair highly damaged parts.

I had everything green except eight points of damage on the left arm. (iron one limb, no armour) when I attacked again using the main tab, figuring I'd repair the arm upon completion and check the new damage that would show after the screen refreshed then. Due to lots of good strikes, the left arm was destroyed and fell off.

On a whim, I decided to repair those eight points in the other tab to see what error message I got before refreshing that screen, the game let me repair eight points, and suddenly I had a left arm with only eight points on it (no hand of course).

edit: I was able to reproduce this effect deliberately. So seems unlikely to be a weird one off.
