A pair of figures trudge slowly into view on the outskirts of Jaaron, shrouded in night and mottled shadows, heading in the direction of the brightly lit windows of a humble workshop.
When they get closer to the light, the shapes can finally be discerned as that of Thuriya of RANGER, and her near constant companion, her bone golem she has named Fungus Slicer. As the Magus wearily approaches the workshop, her golem moves ahead to open the door for her.
"Thanks Fungus," she says wearily, "That was a bad one. But that magical amalgamation of rubbish and sticks won't be attacking anything at Harbinger Farms anymore. I don't know what some Magi are thinking of, disposing Aemaeth Strips without disabling them first. Especially here in Kern, we have enough magical pollutants left over from the Civil War that doing so is like throwing a fireball at a pool of cooking oil."
Upon entry, she hangs up her travel cloak, and gazes longingly in the direction of her living quarters upstairs. Sighing, she then turns toward her office and address her golem. "Go ahead and assume guard duties, I have some reports to write for the Commandant about this and updates to field to the Corps as a whole."
After she enters the office, her golem returns silently back outside to assume it's nightly watch duty. Whatever thoughts it holds about the events of the day remain unknown to any but itself.... |
