I'm going to continue the trend of Gemstone Golem creation being unlocked with achievements with the release of the level 2 Gemstone Golems. Gemstone golems are pretty potent combatants, so even something as small as more slots and hit points should be a non-trivial acquisition IMO. Thus my intial urge is to set this at 25 achievements, but I'd like some thoughts on whether that is too high or too low. Kep |

I agree those would be somewhat powerful, but 25 currently seems hard to get, considering that there are only 28 total, and Donk seems nigh impossible at the moment, leaving only 27. If/when more options come up, I guess that might not be too bad, but it does seem like a big jump from 10 to 25 for one level. Are we going to get something for 15 and 20? |

The difference between level 1 and level 2 is rather trivial actually, you still won't be putting your power in your chest, so the extra slot doesn't make much of a difference there, especially when you consider that it's now a higher combat level, meaning less experience, and more motivation to send it places. In closing, I doubt it would be reasonable for this golem to require even fifteen of the current achievements, twelve or thirteen seeming far more reasonable, and up to about eighteen should you choose to rerelease gem 3 as an achievement unlockable. Part of those numbers is due to the difficulty in acquiring achievements, a couple of them can only be acquired through the office of SM, Donk seemingly can't be acquired any longer, with the added deflection of an adamant, and most of the others merely reward spending unholy amounts of time doing trivial tasks. |

Well 10 to 25 like Laidan said is a rather big jump. Especially since we barely have that many achievements to get, and some of them are jus a bit nuts as is... *coughphilanthrotistcough* and the previously mentioned nearly impossible donk achievement. You also have some achievements that can only be performed by an SM of a clan. I think 25 is indeed far far too much. So maybe a smaller increment between unlocking levels of gem golems. Edit: And ninja'd by Sconibulus. And agrees with him about golem levels. And I'll amend it a bit further, lvl 2 and 4 golems for jus about all types is rather a waste. I only ever build 1, 3, or 5.Last Edited: Jul 2, 2009, 7:58 pm |

There are 40+ achievements... I just forgot that 13 aren't live yet, heh. Donk will be addressed with future creature updates, hopefully. The problem with making a 1000+ hp monster is ensuring it drops something cool enough to make this worthwhile. Alright, after the thoughts thus far, I'm leaning towards 15 achievements for the Gemstone, Level 2. Then perhaps 4 at 20, and 5 at 25 (sometime later, after more achievements are live). I'm probably going to leave the level 3 as a seasonal prem ticket purchase. Kep |
