At the moment, the Sovereign Magistrate of my clan has been gone, for long enough that it appears as though they've abandoned the game.(183 days sense he last logged on).

I don't want to leave the clan, as I've contributed a great deal to building it up, but I'm at one step below the clan leader, so, besides him changing it, I'm wondering it there's a way to change leadership if the leader is gone for that long? I considered trying to contact him, but I don't know anyway to do so outside the game.

No, there really needs to be a mechanic that automatically does it if the SM has been inactive longer than 10 days. Or possibly a voting way.

Meanwhile, I've manually bumped you up to SM to take care of clan matters.

Ten days? My SM went on vacation for two weeks a while back, he generally doesn't let people babysit his main account due to the potential abuse. I'd say give it a month, if you do implement that.

You could always have it default to the longest serving active member. But ten days isn't much for some vacation sets (overseas, Christmas, etc), so you might aim for 30 days or so.

Ah, longest serving active member is a good idea. That's what I'll shoot for.

30 days is fine by me. I guess there's nothing uber critical that requires a SM on hand as long as there are folks with high enough rank to make items, upgrade buildings, etc.

An interesting side effect would be people coming into 0 member clans where the only members vanished half a year ago and suddenly taking over. It would be a good way to bring back those old, dead clans!

I thought there was supposed to (eventually?) be a script that deletes 0-member clans periodically?

Thank you for acting so quickly on this, I greatly appreciate it. As to waiting time, shoot, I would be willing to wait 3 months, after all my rank was high enough to keep building the clan buildings and the like. But 180 days is 6 months, and that's twice that.

No problem, Xalis. :)

And yeah, there's supposed to be a cronjob to take care of emptied clans. I didn't turn it on at the time because it was being a touch aggressive, and then I honestly forgot all about it.

Long overdue to get that fixed. Amoung many other things.

Yay for me returning to SM my (Empty when I left) clan before said cleaning script was implemented! Honestly caused by A) Me setting the wrong email account to the game and getting the reminder email about 20 days before it was relevant, and B) No new things to do. Now there's some more buildings to do and soon new things to kill.

I'm back for now, though I doubt few people noticed. Hello again!

Should the auto-disbanding script be running now? Or did that not get done?

Did this ever get implemented? Xlrate, the SM of SUPCOR, just hit 30 days inactive and our warehouse is packed solid so I'd love to upgrade something. And I think we have a Senate bill we could accept, as well as another showing strong on the floor right now.

I'd be completely and utterly willing to stand down if Xlrate returns, it's his Clan. But it'd be nice to be able to take care of some chores in the mean time.

You wouldn't need to be an SM to do those things, you just need a minor promotion.

Which he can't get ATM because there's an absent SM and only one other officer showing, of duke rank.

Well, that's perhaps just bad leadership and lack of thought in clan organisation? Of course it would be nice if the next one in the ranks could get interim rights until the old leadership is back, but what if more than one person of the same rank exist? In badly structured clans (1 SM, all others normal members) this could be used for hostile take-overs even, so if anything, so "devine intervention" has to take place every time to prevent this. And so it is a question if the game admin wants to intervene into internal problems at all or all the time. It is a slippery slope, where to start intervention and where to end?

I just hope people invest a little thought in how to use the current mechanics and thereby show a responsibility for their own actions.

I checked the clan status before I posted and I'm well aware of the mechanics involved Yamikuronue. Although it's highly likely that 30 days absent means left the game, I was suggesting an alternative too 'willing to stand down if Xlrate returns' as an interim measure. I'm sorry I should have been clearer.

Xor, you do realize the clan in question is SUPCOR, right? There's usually only one permanent member; Ezekiah transmutes iron for TOMU, and he sort of just never came back.

I was only asking for SM because I remembered about this thread from a while ago. Archdukeship is more than fine, I was just trying to see if this automatic fix had ever been installed so has to avoid making Kep step in personally.

EDIT: I feel I should mention that, given as I'm technically a member of TOMU, it's probably a lot more 'polite' if I wasn't given SM but rather archduke. SUPCOR, being what it is, doesn't really have officers of any kind. Most members are just people stopping in to transmute and run. I've taken a spot here more or less permantly in order to transmute long-term for TOMU but that doesn't mean I don't want SUPCOR to grow properly.

Liken it to being an American (TOMUian) that moved to another country (SUPCOR) but sends his paycheck back home. Just because he considers himself first an American doesn't mean he doesn't have some loyalty and concern for the welfare of his new home.

@Yami:
I am not in favour of the way SUPCOR is used as 3rd clan spec. I am not in favour premium items like the winter slayblade act as 3rd clan spec, and are even better than anything a melee clan spec delivers.

I am glad though alchemical altered golems cannot be transferred. But still, this iron production by this pseudo-clan is questionable IMHO. But well, that's just me ;-)

The market price for iron is insane.. now imagine what it would be like without a clan like SUPCOR around!
