It's been mentioned that certain weapon-weilding monsters will drop their weapons as trophies, and to gain wall spikes, etc, you have to bring a trophy from a certain monster. Having been playing Overlord lately (the original), I was struck by one of the most amusing features: the brown minions will occasionally pick up body parts from enemies they've killed and use them as weapons or armor. Not every enemy drops something usable, just like in WoW, but it happens often enough that a squad of browns will eventually all pick up, for example, cultist hats, or skeleton limbs for weapons. This seems like a great idea for muelsfell - enemy monsters will occasionally drop, for example, "Troll Skull", which could be used as a mid-level head-only armour. It wouldn't even have to do anything special - just the idea that my defender is wearing the skull of a skeletal troll would be awesome enough. |

Hehehe. The 'Rat-Hats' or Cooking-pot helms are great, I once had one swing around a fish, though i'm not sure where he got it. The monster trophies could also serve as a means to gather more materials too, as there could be a crazier old guy to trade them in for resources, money or experience. Heck he could even create other items for the players from those that you bring in. (I play way too much Monster Hunter) I'd want to outfit my golems with dusty rags from the mummies I've been a fighting, or mayhaps a bandana made from them. Just wanted to add my thoughts on this. |

I like the "Crazy Old Guy in the Market" idea a lot. Bring him one Mountain Giant's femur, three Spined Troll spines, and one Bog Mummy's rags and he will craft you a special club. It would be add a sense of purpose to killing creatures and an excellent means for players in and out of clans to get their hands on weapons and materials other than Tiger Claws and standard armor. And, since those that are in clans cannot embark on missions, it would be an excellent means for those people to take on specific tasks for experience and whatever else the reward may be. Something like this could add another layer to the gameplay for everybody. |

Owww interesting :) I like the above ideas. "Crazy Old Guy in the Market" could give hints on things he can make but in riddles (as he's crazy and every one loves a good Cliche) so you have to work it out and experiment with different body parts/dropped trophies until you get your item. Alternatively he could just sell the plans to make the said items for tickets. Last Edited: Aug 18, 2009, 12:48 pm |

I think you might like some of the new treasure items once they go live then! ;) Though I didn't think about making them along the lines of bones, parts, etc... but they certainly could be. And be tradeable to an NPC in the future for a reward. Hrm, must make these live sooner than planned. Kep |

A small sampling of seven new items dropped by exclusively by creatures is now live. I won't say which drop what -- I think the thrill of finding an unexpected item is a nice surprise for folks who regularly hunt these already. Plus it's not like it won't be common knowledge within a few days anyway. :) Eventually, maybe we can have scavenger hunts as well as NPCs that do special things with the items. One step at a time, though! Kep |
