Premium Members will now see a Map Helper underneath the map on the Local Area page.

This helper is a teeny tiny set of links, laid out by location, that will let you click directly to that location without having to tediously navigate through the regular map one square at a time.

Enjoy, and please let me know if there are any layout issues. :)

Would it be possible to replace the current setup with one that centers the map on the square you clicked? The current apparatus is basically only a universal set of quicklinks, and doesn't actually save the need for navigation if there's any chance of dropped armour.

I'm with Sconi on this one, usually when I need to cross the map in a hurry, it's because I was fighting the Giant in the Southmount, get a part knocked off, and have to run all the way from the Upper Zaulfung to reclaim some armor, on click at a time. This does make it easier to wander between monsters without piling up my quicklinks menu, but the armor rescue would make it truly useful.

The wiki's list of locations by number kind of makes this less than needed. I agree with Sconi - if it let you go to the location, or even let you hover over to see the name of the location, it would be more useful. I do like the "you are here" X though.

Mostly I made this live because I'm about to start a project involving the map code and don't like doing that with mismatched code between live and dev. ;)

There are a couple of additional features I'd like to add: 1) jumping to that area (similar to what Sconi suggested, only it'd center the 3x3 map on that square instead of taking you to the location) and 2) a grey outline around the location on the small map you currently are.

Okay, I'll bump up the priority on this and get it done before my "super secret" map project. If you don't see these new features by Wednesday of next week, someone give me a nudge/reminder. :)

I would like mouseover text over each location to say the name of the location if it wouldn't be too much trouble.

Just out of curiosity... where there is the notation for the next monster you have left for the world is my zoo achievement....

A hotlink or something so you can send your golem there to fight the next one, would be a great addition for premium members.

I think Harryhausen meant in the premium minimap, where I don't see any mouseover text

In the minimap, there is no tooltip:

img src='../images/map_glacialrift.png' height='20' width='22'

There isn't any alt or mouseover text in the img tag in the code. If you mean the big map, that's been there for a while now, but we were asking for minimap mouseover.

By minimap, do you mean the local area? If so, I've got tooltips if I hover over a location. If not, sorry for the confusion.

Since when does minimap mean the local area? It's the map that has the entire world displayed, shrunk to a more manageable size so that you can see more. A little advance warning about that horde of berserker golems with battle axes coming to kill your nice little sword-and-board golems.

Well, that would explain my confusion. Sorry about that. I thought this feature was a collection of links.

Really quite sorry. (Though the local area does have those tooltips that I only recently learned about after switching browsers, and is pretty much the reason I thought that's what was meant by minimap.)
