I just checked the ranks, and Delano seems to have suddenly gained around 14,000 score in the last few hours(that is, didn't have it a few hours ago, and now does). Just thought I'd mention it.

That's it, folks. Sorry, but Delano has WON THE GAME. :D

Just kidding of course. I think it's fixed now. Was due to a bad value telling the game that combat wasn't over, so it calculated score for each swing in the combat rather than once at the end. Heh.

Edit - Also lowered the score, though I didn't entirely remove the extra. Any issues, just let me know. :)

Mardoc and Mentoc and possibly Mijal have gained a few thousand score each day the last couple days. Could be they just know something I don't, but seems likely enough to be a bug to be worth mentioning.

Wow, whatever those 3 figured out, it works. I just watched Mijal jump over 300 score in 40 minutes, passing me handily even though I got 250 free from leveling up in the same time period. WOW!

300 score in 40 minutes isn't that improbable I don't think. I believe that is beating a decent-strength golem a couple times by shutting down the chest, then destroying it. You can get well over a hundred by doing that with one of Magier's armless guards. I think you get points for taking down wall levels as well, so I'm not even sure it's particularly difficult.

300 isn't bad, no. Though along with the 1k or so earlier in the day it's more surprising. I've seen Mijal get roughly 1200 score each day for a week or so. Seen Mardoc and Mentoc get even more in a day(2k on one, upwards of 3k on the other), though with less consistency, but effectively they've pretty much doubled their score in a week. It is entirely possible they're just beating the tar out of everyone anywhere remotely near them, but you get about 14 score for knocking down a wall 1 level, and you have to actually disable/destroy golems to get much score out of them, so it seems a bit unlikely to me, particularly as Mijal at least is using a clay golem(one was unarmed, another had an iron flame tongue), which is not exactly a wrecking machine. At any rate, it's definitely hard to say for sure. Just have to weight for Arkham to weigh in on it or them to enlighten us. I have to say though, if it's not a bug, my opinion is whatever it is likely needs to be tweaked.

Nothing in combat should be granting that much score. Definitely a bug, if not an exploit, which I'll be correcting as soon as I determine what's causing it.

[Edit] And I may have already found and fixed it.

This was due to a bug, not an exploit.

The difference: if it's due to a bug, and is occuring as part of normal gaming, it's no fault of the players.

If it's due to an exploit, it means a player was doing something fishy that they likely had a good idea they shouldn't be doing. :)

Bug = my fault, I'll fix it so it doesn't happen anymore.

Exploit = your fault, banned. ;)

For confirmation, if we discover and report a bug, are we allowed to exploit it until it is fixed?

I don't think this instance should be a banning offense by any means, but I think they should have reported it rather than just running with it until you blocked the hole.

Uh, no.

The game is about using golems to fight stuff, not to see how long you can get away with something until I notice there's a problem. ;)

If you discover something that appears to be a bug, report it on the forums (or to me directly if you think it's too sensitive) and then try to avoid repeating it.

One of their members did report it, which is how I noticed it (I've been busy the past few days and hadn't been reading the forums). This bug wasn't something limited to just that one clan -- other folks also took advantage of it. There was very little about this bug that indicated that anything was out of the ordinary, except for a general sense that the score bonus was too large.

yeah, just looked at the rankings and it is really weird to see those three in the top ten, since they are roughly 10 levels below any of the others. hopefully the bug can be fixed and their scores corrected. (my opinion only has a little to do with OTAKU having 5 of the top ranking magi...only a little I swear!!)
