Is the acid breath of the marsh dragon a new damage type?

I seem to remember the Acid-borne Cougar in Kern doing acid damage. A type of fire for armour purposes if I remember rightly.

Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken though, the memory isn't always as accurate as I would like. :)

Our research seems to indicate that Acid is its own elemental type, unarmorable against. Much like Persona 3/4 have Almighty damage, which nothing is strong or weak to (excepting some bosses because the computer is a cheating bastard). It's certainly not fire, as it was dealing the same damage versus 30 fire resist and versus 8 fire resist, and versus 0 elemental resist.

ETA: It's plausible that it's doing physical damage. Trixy little hobbitses.
