So, long question short, why fight the song dragon? It's the same level as the frost dragon, gives less than half the loot, no food, no bunny rings, and is harder to kill (possibly just because of mountain effect, but still). Obviously it is much closer for some people, but the disparity between the two seems pretty high to me. Anyone else notice that?

Um...because she's good at "Twister" and she's kinda hot. :>

LOL

I fight her because she refuses to acknowledge the cultural relevence of "J-Pop". Okay, I admit there is more arguing than actual fighting.

If I can convince her to drop 6 more scales, I'll have 2 complete suits of kickbutt anti-sonic armor.

I had always assumed it was the dragons that had chased the giants down the Southmount...but since they haven't appeared, I wonder what it was?

I've tried looking around in the forums for this answer, but can't seem to find anything except that it's hard to kill the dragons with melee weapons.

I'm looking for a good setup to kill the frost dragon. When I was in ARROW, I was using a level 5 clay, with a full set of frost scales, heavy plate on the chest only, diamond eyes, frost resist, and steam engine. Only difference is that then I had the triple barrel cannon.

Any suggestions now that I no longer have access to a TBC? Is there a good weapon to use? Minimum strength level? I've tried fighting her with the same setup, minus cannon, and got trounced, even with the frost spell.

It's looking more and more like I'm going to have to hold off on the dragon until I unlock higher-level weapons.

Repeater dart tube ;P

Seriously, a fully strboosted clay can overcome a subpar weapon, it seems.

Just for kicks, I tried attacking with the iron crossbow held by a bone3, fully boosted. I killed Caer in 5 rounds. So, yeah, it's the str boosting that is the key to dragon slaying, in my seemly humble opinion.

Haven't seen any talk of them yet but this seems the place.

Has anyone taken down the Gem and the Sand Dragon yet?

I've only sent a test probe out to see what sort of damage they inflict.

Both have Sonic breath, but the Gem attacks with claws (slashing) and the Sand attacks with another "Abrasive Breath"

Anyone who has taken them out? What kind of loot dropped?

For those who don't know:

Gem Dragon is in the Miner's Belt

Sand Dragon is in the Ruins of Old Fellin.

I will definitely get to work on that. Curses, I had wanted to work on my addy, but bringing in secondaries is more important ATM.

Thanks guys, glad I have some direction now:)

Wyrmbait Mk2 did 190 dmg while a gem dragon did 45 dmg.

Looted: You found 660 gold coins, 142 pouches of gems and 232 nuggets of adamantine. (200lbs free)

Edit:
Wyrmbait Mk2 did 172 dmg while a sand dragon did 197 dmg.

Looted: You found 652 gold coins, 168 pouches of gems and 304 nuggets of adamantine.

I'd say the *better* key lies incertain particular weapons...

Not really. As I said earlier, I can kill the Caer with even the crappy iron crossbow with more or less the same results as with the repeater. The ammo is cheaper and more popular for the repeater so it's easier to use that but it's not really that much of a difference.

And when I tried to DragonSlay with my other, non-boosted, clay5 is took 2-3 times as much damage. I've even managed to win a time or two without a weapon (forgot to load the crossbow once, won, tried it again for testing) due to boosting. So yeah, weapon choice makes a different sure. But Having a min damage eight higher makes a bigger difference.

An iron crossbow may not be that bad when boosted, but boosted with no ranged weapon (or other special clan buffs) would almost surely fail more than unboosted with a well-suited ranged weapon. Thus I would say that while boosting is nice, it's only the cherry on top

But the question was, how can a non-ranged clannie kill the dragons. Clearly boosting can make up for a subpar weapon.

Not sure about how to kill Gwen without a ranged weapon though. Blasted dragon has two breath weapons so it can go the whole ten rounds with a 100 feet between you and still do damage. /hates

I do quite well with a level 5 wood golem.

mostly iron, except one missing arm, and one stone arm.
Heavy plate everywhere, add in a copper banding to all locations.

Cast the sonic damage booster, and use a set of brass knuckles. Slowly replacing bits of armor with mercurial scales too. :)

I do take a fair beating though, costs are high, loot is decent, but I got my forth scale today, so I'm quite pleased.

My poor Shadow thinks I'm neglecting him though. :(
