It's me again!

Thanks to the awesome advice I got last time, I've made tremendous headway with Thunderstrike.

Now I'm approaching being able to grab my second spell, so I essentially have the same quandry again. What's good to grab now? Do I want to snag, say, Burning Aura for its general utility and to compliment what my Thunderstrike doesn't help against? (For example, my Homunculus has been holding its own against Six-Eyed Lurkers lately, but since they apparently laugh at Sonic, it's a crapshoot of if the poor golem will do enough damage to end the fight or not).

Or, am I better off going in a different direction? Would a resistance spell be good now? What about one of the other wacky things? I have joined a clan that specializes in magic, so a lot of my needs are going to be well-covered there, but additional input is always appreciated. :)

Thanks again!

I'd say...

1) If you have plans to go for a specific monster with high elemental attack in the short term, choose resist.

2) If you worry about PvP, want to use a clay golem for defense, and your workshop is not in a swamp, get rainfall.

Otherwise... just leave the slot open until something good comes to mind.

Advice on what to get is hard. Advice on what not to...

Rust spell is nice, but very hard to use. It's only good for PvP and even then, only against iron golems or parts. The damage is decent though, if there's enough parts to affect.

The summon spells are still buggy, I think- and not in the caster's favor. If this has been fixed, feel free to refute this.

The resist spells are good at latter levels for Dragon Hunting but have limited use elsewhere.

You're not on marsh or swamp, so Rainfall could be good for you for defense. Cradle of Mending might be good but I haven't seen any testing data on it yet.

Another attack spell can be good, if you're specializing in that or really like to be able to wield the best weapon for every task.

The strength boosting spells are iffy. They do add to your minimum damage (and increase looting) but don't last long (and cost a lot) for the more powerful versions. And the first version isn't really that much of a difference in effectiveness.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input, folks! I'll keep considering.
