I apologize if this has been asked already I barely get time to use my motivation let alone serf the forums. Is there a plan to make glass golems useful again? For everyone in the know: What ECL would be good to make glass a viable choice but not overpowered so everyone wants one? Vardos Korinth |

There are three other threads dedicated to glass golems, I believe two of these threads are pre-nerf and one thread is discussing the general uselessness of glass golems. I'd like to put my name on the petition to make glass golems useful again. I've got a level 5 that I've got nearly fully-buffed (for testing/giggles), and while not totally useless, there is no point to using it seeing as I have a fully buffed gem. The gem has better resistances, same speed, lower ECL, higher carry cap, does more damage, and with the introduction of the dragons and subsequent collapse of the market, costs almost nothing to repair. Furthermore, soak minimizes most slashing damage (armour is much better against physical than elemental damage). One or a fair combination of the following would be helpful: -At least SOME kind of resistance. Yes, glass is brittle and tends to shatter, but it also ranks a 5 on the Mohs hardness scale (will scratch a typical steel knife blade). Should have some kind of slash/cold/fire resistance (I mean, even flesh has better fire resistance than glass. Derp?) -Lowered ECL. See gem argument above. I can't send the glass golem out against anything except another exotic without losing XP, and the other exotics would crush it, literally. -Increase carrying capacity. If it's going to cost tons of motivation to send out and is going to lose me XP, at least let me load it down with armour so it has a chance in combat. -Maybe a special ability. "Refraction: Enemy golem has x% miss chance during combat" based on glass golem level. Or "Concentration: Enemy golem takes x damage during daytime combat due to focused sunlight" based on golem level. Could be similar to the wall spikes mechanic. -Increase slash damage and keep everything else the same. Simple but increases probability that slash damage>soak, making the golem more worth using. More thoughts?Last Edited: Nov 12, 2009, 10:47 pm |

I'm actually liking the refraction idea with accuracy loss due to light in the eyes? drop accuracy by 7 percent and I'd send glass golem out vs anything hehe. I definitely vote that something be done for glass, because I like the idea of them, but right now practicality says that they're not a winning strategy.Last Edited: Nov 12, 2009, 11:33 pm |

Oh hey, that refraction/magnifying glass idea sounds mighty familiar >_> I just think that the golems currently are based off of the general perception of glass. A solid chunk of glass would be damned difficult to break. Hell, I've seen champagne bottles endure more than I thought possible. I was hoping they would be something of a secret weapon, a trick up your sleeve. From what i'm hearing here, even strength boosting it doesn't seem to work. And what is the ECL on a Glass 5 anyways? |

Stength buff works, in recent testing, my glass 5 did over 1000 total damage (direct+wall) in combat. I guess my main point is that it's not worth it when compared to a similar gem golem, for various reasons. Gem 1 ECL: 4 Glass 5 ECL: 13Last Edited: Nov 16, 2009, 9:55 pm |
