The lights of the hall dimmed signaling that the conference was about to begin. The SFC grand hall was a brilliant sight. The room is circular and designed is such a manner that one's voice could easily cross its entirety. Holding up the domed ceiling are Pillars made of the teal, and gold specked granite found in some of the ancient mountain passes. Rushing around the room where SFC attendants and servants tending to the needs of the dozens of mages, attending the conference. Each clan has a separate table bordering the edge of the room, and taking up much of space in the room is an open floor of white marble engraved with many spell circles where most of the participant could be found mingling amongst one another. Many important faces can be seen including the sovereign magistrates of many clans, representatives from the every city and even officials from the Dominican guard.
"Welcome!" The voice of Gordon Ironsmith each across the now quite room, "Thank you for coming, and please enjoy the hospitality of my clan Securities and Future Commissions." Gordon Steps away from the SFC table and heads to the center of the hall. "As many of you know almost a year ago now (OOC: With RP being so slow I thought it would be beneficial to push the time line up a bit, so that there has been sufficient time for events to occur.) An inter-dimensional rift was accidentally opened on Mount Kestrel and through Inter-clan relations-"
"And support from the state." A grunt rises from the table of Jaaron representatives.
"And of course financial and military aid from the state, the wraith problem has been silenced, or so we thought."

(OOC: any one is allowed to join this one. Please take the role or representing your clan, and more importantly, the many eyes of Muelsfell are watching so be on your best behavior.)

Edited for those silly question mark things...

(OOC: The time line has only moved up about 6-7 months from the Ironsmith Estate Plot line.)

Laidan listens intently to Ironsmith's introduction, but is here as much to try to gain information on potential rivals as for the stated purpose of the meeting. He wanders from group to group, connecting with those he knows and staying alert for useful tidbits.

"Inter-dimensional rift... I didn't know that." Semaj said to himself while sitting at SFC table.

"Could explain a lot, like how I got here." Semaj thought. He reached for a glass of water that sat in front of him and took a sip as he waited for Gordon to continue.

Xlrate sits pondering about the long trip from the Southmount to this grand hall. At SUPCOR our facilities tend to run more plain almost austere. To see such wealth used for simply a meeting place seems almost wasteful.

(Grumbling) Nary a good cooking fire in this hall to make some of this popped corn that I have so fallen in love with. I bet that Ironsmith fellow has that bag that I magically enhanced that "disappeared" during the last "meeting" that took place.

When I see that Ironsmith fellow, I am going to give him a piece of my mind, no not literally.... To think I would let him get away with such a dastardly deed would be unthinkable.

...... mumbles incoherently for a while.....

Kyomi sits quietly at the OTAKU table, sipping some sort of vibrant blue drink. Next to her, sitting as an equal, is Her Shadow, the ever present homunculus of Kyomi's.

"Accidentally? ... Wonder if that mess over at Tzadkiel's had anything to do with it." She says to Her Shadow quietly, waving politely to people she knows.

"Do you think it had anything to do with your visit home?" Her Shadow asks, lifting a mug of something to his lips. "And how you can drink this is beyond my comprehension, Mistress."

Arriving a bit late, Nanashi slips through a wrinkle in the energy flows, seeming to shimmer out of thin air. He blinks a few times and shakes his head, "I never like doing that..." He rubs his temple, feeling the onset of a headache.

He walks slowly to the OTAKU table and sits next to Kyomi and her Shadow, saying a quiet greeting.

The Magisterius University table is, of course, full - there's a nice showing of TOMU members, probably thanks to their highly active political/social aspect. A young woman in a VERY expensive dress represents the interests of the alumni; three of their "abomination" sparked golems also sit at the table alongside the magi, representing their people: a bronze golem looks similar to Viktor, though rather newer and sleeker; a copper golem - is that Blaze? Sure looks the same, down to the faux-hair; and Alpha, who is by now a rather familiar sight representing TOMU due to his highly developed personality.

Notably absent, however, are the expected faces - Chancellor Kaelas and Yamiko Kuronue. Strange.

Also in attendance is Sconibulus Arquolin, along with a very... unusual non-humanoid golem; seated beside him is Raiden Kuronue, Yamiko's less-often seen cousin.

List subject to change; TOMUites, message me if you want me to add you to this list.

With the center floor cleared Gordon could continue, "We thought that the wraiths where a one time occurrence, but that, sadly, couldn't have been further from the truth. I've spent much of the last months pouring over old records, searching for ancient texts, and experimenting with captured wraiths..." Gordon clears his throat before continuing. "These wraiths, from what I've gathered are merely the first wave. Being less powerful they can just "slip" through the cracks into our world, the rifts big or small-"

"Rifts?! You don't mean to say there where more?" The shout comes from the Dimitrian Republican Guards table.

A Magi wearing the mottled cloak that is the hallmark of Kern's fabled Ranger Corps stands, and clears her throat.

"Pardon me, but we representatives of Her Majesties Government may have found some few snippets that may be anecdotal evidence of a couple small rifts briefly opening during our recent Civil War. At the time, the phenomenon was written of as a side effect of the titanic spells and magical energies released, or perhaps as the confused reports and dispatches from shell-shocked refugees and soldiers. Indeed, to err on the side of caution, some of what we found may be just that, but has been included anyway."

Thuriya then nods to her attending bone golem, who begins distributing neatly bound and sealed bundles of parchment from the numerous Royal dispatch cases it is carrying to the delegates.

"Her Majesty has authorized me in my capacity as Acting Commandant to extend an official invitation to those who would care to peruse the originals to visit the Royal Archives in Jaaron, but in the interest of expediency, we have taken the liberty of copying the pertinent records in hopes they might shed some light on this situation."

With that, Thuriya resumes her seat, fingers absently toying with the golden leaf she wears as a symbol of her rank as she watches her bone golem complete its duties and return to her side.

Semaj is handed one of the parchment bundles from the bone golem and nods politely as he accepts it. He opens the bundle and quickly reads over the contained information. He then pulls a pencil form in his cloak and begins to mark the parchment with notes. After a few moments he looks up from the parchment and begins to look carefully around the room, taking in others reactions to the presented info. As Semaj looks around he unconscious begins to whirl the pencil around his thumb in his left hand.

Alpha takes the scroll offered him and thanks the golem politely, uncaring that it doesn't appear self-aware. The homunculus, in his natural flesh chassis, opens the message with a deft movement of his thumb. He barely seems to glance at it before re-rolling it. "Interesting" he remarks to the bronze golem, who just nods, still studying his own copy.

After the larger golem finally finishes, he turns to the copper. "What do you think of all this, Mech?" he asks in a very wise, cultured voice that somehow sounds like it's in the middle of a sermon. The very serious looking golem takes a moment to frown disapprovingly at Sconi's golem- silly little thing, he thinks... however cute it might be to some. Not he, of course, he assures himself.

The copper golem, so identical to Blaze, skims over her report. "I think I wish to hear where this speech is going." she says, after a moment. "There's an angle here."

Shan, seated at the table for Long Arms, is only half paying attention to the discussion at hand. Although he is keeping an ear open for anything important, what he considers important is mostly screams, crashes, or roars. Signs of an immediate threat, which are unlikely at this place and time. He can still gather a vague idea of the topic: rifts, and probably more monsters.
The other half of his attention is focused on his napkin. He is folding, unfolding, and refolding it, looking for ways to add more shape or meaning to the simple cloth rectangle.

When offered one of the bundles of records, Shan accepts, mumbling a simple "Thank you." He shifts his attention to the pages for a few moments, before deciding that they are more intriguing than the mysteries of napkincraft. Resettling himself in his seat, he begins to read.

"The Ranger Corps have my thanks." Gordon forces himself not to smirk. The information is useless to him, he's know about those occurrences and many many more for months.

"But as I was saying. The Rift,s regardless of size, are all similar in power, This means powerful entities can not just walk through these rifts 'willy nilly' no matter how big they are. I've also found that these rifts are naturally occurring and are actually beneficial too us mages. With out these rift I believed many of the magic abilities we take for granted would become impossible to power, but do not worry these rifts are constantly opening and closing. Most of which are tiny 'cracks' which nothing can cross." 5 of the engraved spell circles in the marble begin to glow and some even begin to rotate.

"I've been able to identify six different type of entities that can enter our realm of existence with little to no assistance by using these naturally occurring rifts." Light begins to shine from the spell circles that quick combine and form the image of a wraith in perfect detail, thought it size has been artificially increased too allow every one in the room to see it.

"For those of you who haven't seen one this is a temporal wraith."

Semaj notices the slight strain on Gordon's as he thanked Ranger Corps for the info. The hiding of a smirk or smile was one of the few facial movements Semaj recognized easily. He stopped whiling his pencil and slipped it back into his cloak.

"So he already knew of this information. He should really fill me in before a big meat like this next time." Semaj thought to himself.

Semaj stood up and before he could make a statement caught from the corner of his eye the large double doors to the hall crack open. Peering in on the hall was a set of diamond eyes attached to a large stone head. Semaj choked on the words he was about to use and managed to spit out "Excuse me for a moment."

Semaj headed to and out the door apologizing to everyone he passed, shutting it behind him. Waiting outside was large 100% stone golem cover in leather straps and iron studs and two tiger claws attached to a belt. The golem stood 12 foot 9 inches tall and looked down at Semaj sappily.

Semaj looked up at the golem. "What did I tell you?" was ask much like a father would ask a small child and then repeated more sternly. "Petros Craig, WHAT did I tell you?"

The golem held his head a little lower and answer in a deep sad voice. "Don't interrupt you at your meeting."

"And what are you doing right now?" Semaj asked.

"Interrupting your meeting." responded Petros. "But the golems at the Depot are no fun!" Objected the golem.

"No fun? I though you like lining them up like dominoes, knocking them down and watching them pick them selves up." Semaj said with a light chuckle.

"I got lonely." Petros answered.

Semaj shook his head. "Your hopeless you know? I'm not going to be around forever. When I am gone for good what then?" Semaj lecture the stone golem.

Petros looked down at him with puppy eyes.

"... Damn it, ok. You can look in the window but you have to stay outside, and don't make any noise." Semaj sighed as he gave in.

"You won't even know I am here father." Petros said with a look on his face like that of a child who just got their way. The golem raced over to the window and sat in front of it. The thuds from his energetic footsteps and sitting down where easily hear inside the hall.

"What am I going to do with him?" Semaj asked himself as he made his way back to the Hall doors. He opened one of the doors and slipped in as quite as he could closing the door behind him.

"Sorry, excuse me, pardon me." Semaj made his was back to his table. "Hope I didn't miss anything important." He thought.

(OOC: That was a bit longer than I thought it would be. XP And as far as Petros Craig goes just imagine Golem, look and sound, from monster Rancher and you will have the basic idea.)

Nanashi listens intently, comparing what was being said to what he had learned in his studies. He reads slowly through the report from the Ranger Corps, digesting the things he found there.

He thinks for a moment, then raises his hand and asks, "In your time studying the rifts have you noticed them getting any worse? Or have they stayed fairly stable in size and frequency?"

Gordon responds to Nanashi first, "Rifts are always the same in number, with equal amounts are always opening and closing. What causes rifts too expand and fully open is controlled by a number of factors, some of which I haven't begun to understand, but the over use of destructive magic can and has affected the types of rifts that open. For example, I attempted casting a fire spell near a rift, causing it open slightly." Gordon explains.

"As for Mount Kestrel, nothing about the mountain makes it any better a place for rifts to open, the clan just used it as a secluded area to test new magic, which I'm quite thankful for. If the Rift had been opened in a populated area, the death toll would have been severe." Gordon pauses.

"But now back to what I was saying, I have identified 6 types of entities." The image of the wraith shifts and begin to change splitting into two different images, both of wraiths, but each are different. One has a green eyes, and a green glow emanating from with in its chest. The other has yellow eyes but no glow, but in each hand lays a dagger, each two feet long and unlike the rest of the wraith the daggers seem to be fully corporeal.

Alpha seems to be a bit more interested in the golem he had seen peeking through the door than the discussion at hand, honestly. He waited a bit to see if the golem would be entering the room, then shrugs after Semaj returned alone.

The bronze golem Five clears his throat before asking "the daggers... are they of this world or from their's?"

After Semaj enters the room and Alpha turns his attention to other things he would notice his table suddenly had less light than a moment ago. The golem Petros Craig just so happened to sit in front of the window that was illuminating to the TOMU table. HIs large stone figure blocked most of the window. Petros then carefully pushed the window open just enough to hear what was being said inside. If anyone made eye contact or other wise got the attention of Petros he would simple smile and wave then turn back to the presentation.

Semaj arrived back at his table after missing the first part of what Gordon had been saying. The other clan members quickly filled him in. He then sat waiting patiently, listening to what the others where asking and glacing back at Petros every so often.

Most everything that Xlrate is mumbling sounds like gibberish though.

"Very good question and those daggers are definitely from their "world," but I'll explain that fully in a moment." A smile escapes Gordon's lips when he sees the silhouette of Petros Craig in the window behind the TOMU table. "These, while looking similar, are not the wraiths that any one would be familiar with, they are not much more powerful then regular wraith, if they where they wouldn't be capable of using the rifts. What makes these different, dangerous, is the fact that they are very inteligent, the Yellow eyed one it even capable of speech."

The Image of the wraith disappears and a close up of the dagger replaces it. "To quickly answer your question Alpha, the daggers are, astonishingly, an extension of the wraith. If the Wraith loses, or throws, one in combat it will dissipate and, seconds later, it will reappear in the wraiths hand."

The Image shifts again showing a ring of regular wraiths being supervised by the green one. "Now back to what I was saying" Gordon's pace picks up ever so slightly, "This is what I tried to prevent when I captured the wraiths. In this image you can see the wraiths forming a circle. What there doing here is opening a portal, which is mealy a controlled rift further empowered by the wraiths."

The image changes again now with a sphere like portal formed within the circle or wraiths. "The Normal wraiths are incapable of forming these 'rings' by themselves, and require a supervisor to coordinate them. Six days ago I found one of these circles, I had thought I had captured or killed all the supervisor wraiths in the first week after the rift opened, but sadly I was wrong. Luckily I was there in time to prevent more then one 'Overseer' from escaping before the circle was destroyed." Gordon pauses as the Image shifts again growing in size. to show a massive (12-14 tall, 6 feet wide) Cloaked, floating, figure.

"You know the more I look at them the more familiar these wraiths look.." Semaj says to himself. "I can't put my finger on it but there is something just so... man this is going to be aggravating till I figure it out."

Semaj flips over one of the parchments in front of him to use as a blank work space. He pulls his trusty pencil from his cloak and begins to draw.

Mean while outside Petros Craig begins to enjoy snacking on a pile of rocks. The crunching can be heard at the TOMU table and those surrounding it. He seems to be enjoying watching the conference very much.

Alpha is again paying more attention to the unusual golem outside than the actual conference. Rather interesting diet... he supposes that rock is just as nourishing as most human food would be, all told, but still. At least food is cooked, prepared... it's an skill, an art. Errr. Evil wraith creature from another world. Focus.

The other golem leans back. Well, if the daggers are a part of the creatures- or at least tied to them in some fashion, they are at least not yet copying or learning from those of this world. At least not in an obvious fashion. Looking over at Gordon intently, Five asks him "I presume by your worry and other reports from I've read that non-aggressive methods of interaction have failed? Have you attempted any kind of contact with these 'Overseers' as yet?"
