Didn't necessarily see this thread anywhere else, and I know this information is strewn about in other threads, but I figure we could all compile a list of creatures that drop specific items or at least resources that are hard to get a hold of. Get the info on item drops into one place, also since there have been some new monsters released lately. Also so that any information missing from the Wiki or that isn't in there yet can be gleaned from this thread.

So, my contribution

The Gelatinous Cube in the Old Capital Ruins drops Chainmail, as well as on very rare occasions (I've only ever received one after many many fights) Medium Iron Plate.

I've also found the Platygon Hatchling to drop large sums of copper, 600 coils or so...

I would suggest such things be put in the creature articles in the unofficial library [daryoon.hopto.org/mediawiki/index.php/Category:Monsters] ;-)

If people want easy indexes we can create a category for "Monsters who drop items" so they'd all be on one page. Let me know what people are using the wiki for and i'll work on organizing it better.

I'm merely suggesting we add everything known into one thread.

And I can't necessarily speak for who is and isn't using the wiki. People come to forums first for the information anyways.

From what I've seen, you're wrong there Phats. Because the forums lack a search function, from what I've seen, most people check the wiki for information (potentially complaining about OTAKU and ADV being sluggish on the updates) and if they can't find it there, then look in the forums.

Most of these people do, however, read the forums with some frequency, they just recognize that it isn't exactly the best format for a repository of knowledge.

Look, if we don't want to compile info here, then I'd suggest deleting this thread.

I personally stick to the game forums for basics, such as creature drops, and if I want nuances or information about items that are out of reach, such as the next weapon to unlock, then I'll check the wiki.

What this was, was a call to see if any other standard creatures drop items like armor. Thus far, I haven't heard of any other creature dropping anything except for the Cube. Again, drops from standard enemies that are armor and such. Being that several new creatures have been introduced, I'd say enough people have fought them to be able to say whether or not any of them drop something useful. If I were to search through the Wiki for such a thing, I'd have to look at each creature profile.

If everyone knows what creatures drop what, it might encourage them to expand their hunting grounds. Something I hadn't known before today, was that the Needletooth Goblin drops Bone Tipped Arrows, because I don't bother to venture over there to fight it enough.

I would like to a cross-indexable list of items and what drops them, and a list of creatures and what they drop. that'd just about cover it.

People posting information here is good for gathering it, but I personally think the wiki nicest long-term home for such information.

Also, two new relevant wiki categories Category:Monsters who drop items [daryoon.hopto.org/mediawiki/index.php/Category:Monsters_who _drop_items] and Category:Items dropped by monsters [daryoon.hopto.org/mediawiki/index.php/Category:Items_droppe d_by_monsters].

Such was the purpose of the thread. Good to see that in there, Red.

Try not to fight.

TOMU's been trying to push people into adding information into the forums because since the wiki was created, TOMU members have done the majority of the upkeep, and we'd really like to see it take off more. A lot of people farm monsters but don't put their drops into the wiki, for example, which makes it frustrating to try and find information on, say, where to farm adamantine.

Forgive me for having other paperwork that needs to be filed. >_>

Also, our members have been rather quiet of late... one wonders if they might have taken a vow of silence.

... potentially complaining about ... ADV being sluggish on the updates

Hey, I update creature entries, though I only hit a limited selection usually. Also I've gone in for table corrections/updates. I just usually post using a variety of IP address rather than my name. Gotta love rotating work and home IP's...

As for the latest and greatest Clan offerings? A girl has to have SOME secrets... XD

Right, I'm talking about the information that only you have access to.... oh, I should go check the clan building things, been a while since I looked at those, and then I might look silly.

If anyone is trying to gather info let me know...I'm just grinding right now. I can either run trials by fighting monsters, or crunch numbers from combat reports if possible.

I don't think anyone is looking at any specific monster right now, but if you have a monster of interest that you feel like crunching the numers on the drop rates for, I'm sure everyone would be interested.

Drop rates appear to be most useful put into categories: Common (drops nearly every time), Less Common (drops once in a while but still fairly often), Rare (somewhere around 10%), and Ultra-rare (somewhere around or below 5%). Due to the way statistics work, you can't be totally sure of the percentage from experience, so broad categories lets you compare two monsters that drop the same thing.

That's where dedicating multiple people to a task gets useful...the more reports you get from a monster the better. If I test a monster 10 times I probably won't get a good idea of percentages. But after a couple hundred trials we might be pretty confident (even with independence of observations).

Well, I think it'd take more than a couple hundred to feel comfortable for the more rare drops, but sure.

Most of the percentages I've seen put in were based on Kaelas farming the monster for about a week - he's got a good deal of moti, so a week's worth of farming makes a couple hundred hits.

I've got the Platygon Hatchling.... I could use the copper it drops, haven't fought it enough to find out if it drops anything. There has got to be more creatures that drop armor or something, like the Gelatinous Cube. Unless someone has been farming it lately, and since I could see a collaborative effort out of this, we could pick a creature each or, something?

That Kobold War Machine could have something... hrmm.

EDIT: Don't fight the hatchling at night, even if you have the guilded lantern, or with a level 1 gem whose strength is less than 60... or 60.

I don't think it would hurt to double up on monsters, probably stick with what is in your area to reduce motivation costs. Should we agree to a certain number of hits? I was thinking 200 as a bare minimum to establish what can drop...maybe more to calculate percent drop. I'm starting with the Necropolis (doubt any items drop but it will fill the wiki at least), I'm recording the specs of the golem and what drops each combat (if anything). I can put it in excel for those interested, or run t-tests, correlations, etc. if anyone has an idea they want to test.
