| "There's no way we can blow this whole mountain down with the limited supplies we have. This moutian is one city the goes quite deep, if we want to take down the mountain we'd need to take out the foundations and those are in an area I have no information on." Lucy muses over the idea. "No our current coarse of action should be the quickest, and possibly the safest." Lucy Take a left turn and continues down the dark path. |

Thuriya flashes numerous hands signs to her bone golem, and it approaches and takes the Salamander Cloak from her and exchanges it for its previous mottled one, which it then stores in a pouch. With the crackling green flames running up and down its cloak, casting another form of light for the party, but sending strange shadows against the walls nearest to it.
"Well, I guess that might help if they try that shadow trick again. Lets go then", Thuriya gestures to her golems, and they start down after the main group. |

Valadin follows along, moving to reload his dart-tube after a quick inventory check. After a little thought, he takes rear-guard duty, in the hopes that they'll be ambushed. Yes, in hopes of being ambushed. Valadin has no fear of battle and is under the belief that it is easier for one's foes to come to you, rather than having to waste time hunting them down.

Streaking along much faster than Valadin ever has, the impatient recipient of his partially forgotten package arrives at the mountain. Locating the still slightly frozen elephant, the figure inspects the darts, then looks over at the cave entrance. Given how heavy Valadin is, he leaves some rather noticeable tracks that are very easy to follow... and so he is, at first. It's not long before another set of similar markings are noticed and, after a brief internal debate, the new ones are followed. Followed left...
(OOC- it was Petros's footprints that were followed, so expect company coming up behind the trio of golems.) |

Frost Fire managed to guide Petros back to the entrance where with a quick glance she notices a figure outside moving towards the entrance, but frost Fire had a job to do, and would finish it before deviating.
Turning back to Petros waving for him to follow.

They where getting close now. As they grew close to the second last room ragged marks had been dug into the solid walls. As they continued on the random gashes became rudimentary shapes and then symbols. It was like something had been learning magic, and some form of language, as it slowly moved up the passageway and hacked at the walls. |

Pond moves to rejoins 88 as he starts to trundle off after the pack. After a few clumsy attempts to gain a grip and one face plant into the hard tunnel floor, he manages to climb back up onto 88 shoulders.

"naa dumb golem remember, if ya want to be a Magi ya got to learn to order us about"

Semaj saw the writing on the wall. Though he knows many languages this one was new to him. He flips to a page in his book. After a few words a spell is cast and Semaj looks back at the writing.
"Oh hell."

Petros continued to follow Frost Fire. He was bored with the lack of reaction he could get from this golem. Petros started to make comments just for observation purposes.

As they continue through the underground city, Shan clears his throat to draw attention before speaking up.
"I noticed something that may be a problem. A small problem, probably... We're all apparently pretty good at killing stuff, and we seem able to take care of ourselves, but... I'm not sure we're working as a team. Not exactly... organized."
Shan chooses not to point out that he has made the same mistakes.
"If they're smart enough to set a trap, then... Well, it would be inconvenient if we got caught in an ambush." |

"I apologize, but that's where your wrong Shan. Wraiths are not capable of traps of that sophistication. At least not normal ones. Wraiths are beasts, raving monsters when not guided, and there wasn't anything guiding them. That is why I was able to confuse them, an impossible task if they where being lead by green wraith." Lucy replies. "As for Ambush I suggest we allow the Larger Defensive golems to enter the next room first. Valadin?"

Semaj while looking at the wall and the runes on it begins to speak.
"Lucy, I think you are wrong about the whole they can't set traps thing. Gate, Soul, Power, Foundation, Protection... Something taught itself magic down here. And not just some willy-nilly prestidigitation magic. I am talking top tier magi spend their whole lives practicing for this level magic. We should be on guard something is summoning something powerful and these runes where practice."
Semaj puts his hand out in front of him and speaks a few words. He makes his way to the front of the group.
"Detect magic, oldy but a goody. Whatever was learning here might have even set magic traps. Best not to go in blind." Semaj explained. He would scan the areas they approach for magic auras in hopes of not being surprised by something like a magic trap. |

More than willing to serve as a shield to those he travels with, Valadin moves forward quickly. "Of course, Lady Lucy, it would be my honor to serve as both shield and sword against the foul villainy of these most wretched beasts of shadow and ill will as we continue forth in our worthy quest of vanquishing them from this ancient stronghold of races long since departed this weary world."
[OOC: He's willing to go first and soak up the damage. He's also noting that while the wraiths might not have traps set up, the dwarves that lived here first might have done so.]

As for the other group, the more observant of the trio might notice some very faint sounds of movement coming up behind them despite Petros's chatter. Much lighter than the iron wrecks they'd been fighting, but not a human step either. |

"Well I won't disagree with a plan, but I think you missed an important part of what Lucy said." Gordon who had been allowing the others to speak, finally adds. "Lucy said 'Wraiths are not capable of traps of that sophistication. At least not normal ones.' What ever is creating these runes is no ordinary wraith, if it is one at all."
Gordon walks to the door, but does not open it for obvious reasons, and runs his hand over the runes carved into the ancient wood. "Humm, but good call on the trap. If you look this looks like a summoning spell, because it is, well almost... See this rune, Protection." Gordon points at a rune on the door, "It's inverted, and I imagine there's two runes facing each other on one of the door jams, most likely ignition."
With out pause Gordon slams his palms onto the doors lighting all the runes with eerie purple glow.
Suddenly one rune burns out leaving only a burned crater to replace it. Another rune goes, the inverted Protection rune, then another. Quickly the runes burn them selves off the door.
Gordon steps back. "There goes those ones, but I think there are more the other side. Any one want to form a Force field while I conjure a Prismatic veil? Also once we open that door, something could be waiting for us..."Last Edited: Feb 22, 2010, 8:01 pm |

I'll shut up now, sorry carry on" He concludes trying to sink into the metal off 88's shoulder as people glare at him for his interruption.

Kyomi perks up as Gordon disables the runes about the door. Her Shadow sighs.
"You said the 'C' word..." He says with a worried shake of his head.
"Hmm, spiders? No, would clog the mine and creep everyone out... Wolves? no... not good with dark and too big... Oh wait!"
"No Mistress, you are not summoning the dagger cloud." Her Shadow interrupts, making her pout, "Or the fuzzy balls of teeth." Kyomi pouts more, "And no, no shocker lizard swarm either!"
"Well? What should I summon then?" Kyomi huffs.
"You could trap the door." Her Shadow suggests.
"Oh right!" She turns to Gordon, "I'm going to lay a trap along the base of the door. Anything charging out gets zapped. Is that okay?" |

Frost Fire had found Kyomi's Glowing trail. Frost Fire had been built with a specific purpose in mind, and while she's gone under reconstruction several times that purpose has remained the same. Frost was designed to find things, and people, and was armed with special sensory equipment just to do so, and knew that she and Petros' where being followed.
Frost Fire Turned back to Petros and pointed a finger at the glowing green line, and then pointed down the hall. If she could get him to follow the line with out her she would know he'd get back to Gordon, and Semaj. If she can do that she can see who, or what, if following, and perhaps why. |

Petros made his way down the hall wondering the sodden absences of the small forest golem that had been with him this whole time.

Semaj let his detection spell go as soon as the runes where removed and being impulsive as ever waited only long enough for Gordon to put up a Prismatic veil.
"Never been good with traps but I do have a spell for this... FIREBALL!!!!"
And with that Semaj conjured a large fireball which he proceeded to destroy the door and hopefully anything behind it with.

"@#$%@#$%&!" Gordon curses as he raises the prismatic veil in time to protect everyone from the wave of magic energy rushing towards them. The veil holds back the magic, mostly. Letting the shield go Gordon looks back at the group, everyone seems to have spontaneously tanned, a few singed hairs, not to mention some fizzed hairdos, but everyone is fine.
Walking up to Semaj, Gordon says"Nice work as always." before patting his back. "But next time a little restraint would be nice."

Valadin blinks a little at the wash of flame that comes over him but doesn't really care all that much. Between Gordon's protective spell and his own armor, he wasn't much effected but it was still a bit of a surprise. Nevertheless, he readies his dart tube for whatever might come out of the newly opened door.

The whatever following Frost Fire and Petros approaches quickly enough, seemingly having no problem with the pitch black caverns. Finally coming into view, the slim female figure is actually skipping along as she follows the tracks. She pauses a moment stare at the muddle of footprints before her then shrugs before continuing on.
Frost Fire's innate gemstone abilities would allow her to notice that the newcomer's eyes are glowing ever so faintly, that she was wearing a nice blouse and sturdy trousers and perhaps of most interest, that she had a sword strapped to her back. Frost Fire might also notice that the newcomer has noticed her as well... |

Working right next to the door, and not actually behind Gordon's barrier, Kyomi throws herself flat just as she hears the word 'fireball'. An instant later Her Shadow lays over her to protect her from the blast, his own body only a little bit better off than hers against the fire.
After a moment, they both get up, dust themselves off, and glare at those assembled.
"Alright, who did that?" Kyomi growls, her clothes far more revealing now, though her book seems to be unmarked, even cleaner than it was. The little lady also seems to have grown a small pair of wings and a tail as well.
Her Shadow also looks the crowd over once, before tending to his injuries with a sigh. |

Brushing soot off of her cloak, Thuriya glances at her golems to check for damage. Reassured, she waves her bone golem and its Spiked Chain forward while the clay takes up an overwatch with its longbow.

In the resulting cloud of dust Gordon had completely missed the fact that shadow took a direct hit, and Kyomi was now wearing even less clothing, but thankfully she wasn't severely harmed.
Gordon sticks his hand in to a pocket and grabs another signature light orb, and ignites it. "Well I'm glad to see your alright Kyomi." Gordon tosses the orb into the darkness of the next room, it Crashes letting loose a flash of bright white light. A scream echos from the room as a previously hidden wraith begins to flail. "Humm one, that's never a good sign." Gordon Walks forward towards the door, "Lovely tail."

Frost Fire watched as the other gem golem approached.
Skipping? Frost thinks disdainfully, well it must be a gem golem, so who knows she might be a challenge. Gordon had bond several spells to her earlier that could be released at any time, but she would wait before releasing one (OOC: she only has 3 spells and they over write each other). |

Coming to a stop before Frost Fire, the newcomer inspects her for a moment, then waves cheerfully.
"Hi! I'm Ceriph SaKuronue and I'm looking for my big brother 'cause he totally never brought me my mail. He's a really big clay with tons of armor and stuff on him. Can you talk? Are you a smart golem like me and Viktor and Alpha and Five and Mech and and well are you? You're quiet, aren't you? Daddy says most people are quiet around me but Mom says that might just be in comparison. Are you lost? I'm following these tracks and you can come with me if you want, I don't mind at all. It's nicer to travel with company, it gives you someone to talk to. This cave is dark but that doesn't bother us, does it? Still prefer sunlight. Or starlight. Or moonlight, that's really pretty and romantic. Do you have a boyfriend? I don't yet but I got asked out by this really cute Magus once. Least, I think he asked me out, he was all shy and stuff about it so it was hard to tell. Where was I going? Oh yeah, tracks..."
At this point, she continues onwards. But she's still talking...

Frost Fire puts her clay hand to her forehead before sheathing her sword. She wasn't much for needless chatter, but she did bring up a good point was she Sentient, well she knew who, and what she was, but then, she was a servant just as Gordon's other golems are, but they seemed much more then just ordinary golems- needless thoughts. Frost clears her mind, she's been from Gordon far to long.
Frost Waves for Ceriph to follow before breaking into a sprint down the corridor. She would probably catch up to Petros before long.
OOC: And she probably just appear tired (not that she really can be) to Ceriph as she views other Gem golems as her equals. Also Frost is technically sentient, but she doesn't view her self as much, but I'll develop her more as time goes on.Last Edited: Feb 27, 2010, 5:39 am |
