The golem seems to be going to pass them without pausing, then stops just as Lucy finishes talking. His head slowly turns to face her and his left hand comes up to raise his faceplate, revealing a light blue metallic face. Diamond eyes flicker from one Magus to another, then he crashes to a knee facing Lucy.

"Lady Lucy, as I, Valadin de la SaKuronue, second son of Chancellor Kaelas SaKuronue, honored foe of the Lady Dragon Caerula, and True Knight of the Old Ways, could not but hear of your noble plan to defend this most deserving of realms from the terrible scourge that is the undead wraiths by means of a splendidly daring plan of embarking deep into the long neglected but never truly forgotten city of the mysterious dwarves in hopes of halting the cursed wraiths' entry into this world, aye, verily in their very tracks no less shall they find themselves hindered and forbidden, and, being that which I am, could do no less but entreat you to allow me to lend my strength, my honor and my valor to this most worthy of quests, if only to repay you and your esteemed husband the gracious social invitation you extended to mine father and the Lady Yamiko some time past."

His request out, he falls silent, awaiting her answer. And yes, that was all one sentence. Let's hear it for not having to breathe.

[OCC Edit: Summary- Introduces himself. If you're fighting wraiths, I'd like to help because they're evil. Also because Lucy and Gordon are friends of my dad Kaelas.]

Kyomi and Her Shadow look first at the walking pile of armor, then to each other, then shrug, getting out of its way, and listening to its single winded speech.

Then to Gordon, Kyomi says, "You know, I havent been on a dungeon crawl in... ... well, a long time. Should I pack a lunch?"

Lucy was surprised at the Golems sudden request, but the requests long winded nature allowed Lucy the time to reply with composer. "I would be honored if you where to accompany us Valadin de la SaKuronue. Gordon?" Lucy replies.

Lucy Bends over slightly to whispers into Petros ear, "I don't know about you, but I think I like this Valadin fellow."

"A packed lunch?" Gordon laughs, "No I think you should be fine. Though should you get hungry I have a couple things tucked away in my pack, oh look who can speak." Gordon listens to Valadin introduce himself and Lucy passing the lead back to him.

"Well everyone ready?" Gordon begins to walk towards the mountain, a decent 10 minute walk. With a smile Gordon says, "Day lights burning."

Shan's face brightens at the mention of dungeon crawling.
"Well, something doesn't have to be a gnome to burn a gnome's oil," Shan comments on the smell. He considers that there is a bit of goblin activity in the area. Or maybe something he's forgetting.

Shan walks after Gordon, with Eurus still following behind him.

Semaj sniffed the air again.

"I am ready to go and I am sure Petros is too."

Petros gave a reassuring nod to Semaj. Semaj sniffed the air again.

"You know, I don't have the best nose in the world but is it just me or is that burning oil smell getting... stronger? or closer? I know its probably a bad time to remember this but don't Clockwork Elephants burn gnome's oil."

Semaj started to expand his awareness out of habit. Sad truth is he was prepared for the irony of a Clockwork Elephant to jump out at them just for mentioning the possibility. Semaj's life always seemed entirely to full of irons.

EDIT: "He seems like he will be a good fighter, and take orders well at the least." Petros whispered back to Lucy giving a shrug of his eyebrows with a slight nod of his head to the side.

((OCC: Just to be clear that is I-rons, you know those things that float around you and cause irony to happen. Semaj attracts them like magnet does iron shavings. :P ))

Rising smoothly to his feet, Valadin stuffs the packet he was carrying under his full plate, then begins to scan the area for whatever is making the smell that so worries the rest of his new party of fellow adventurers. As he does so, he slips his now empty hand into another niche in his armor, coming out with a set of wicked looking claws. His dart tube is obviously his preferred choice but if pressed...

Gordon Left the clearing and heading into wood separating the group from the entrance too the ancient Dwarven city. The sun was shining down, slowly burning the fog away. Gord had quickly become very quite while they drew closer to the smell of burning Oil. Gordon Still a few meters ahead of the group pushed through some thicker brush before yelling back to the group, "I think I know where the smell is coming from!" In front of Gordon lays dozens of burning wreaks, all Mining Guild diggers.

Scattered amongst the wrecks are destroyed Iron and stone golems, and the bodies of a few unfortunate Gnomes.

Thuriya, following the group with her golems, surveys the scene. Taking her walking stave, she bends it and strings it, revealing a slightly modified Frostwood longbow. "Interesting. I take it this is unexpected?" she asks while flashing hand signs to her accompanying golems, who take up positions to cover her blind spots.

Kyomi looks over the wreckage, whistling in appreciation.

"Now it's a dungeon crawl. Can't have one without a quest, and a tragedy."

She steps past Gordon, gives a nod to Her Shadow, and then heads for the first unfortunate Gnome she sees, while Her Shadow draws his sword and follows.

"I'm going to have a talk with this one, you guys can take a look at the rest of this mess."

"Petros, get ready." Semaj said. Semaj and Petros where in the front of the group only behind Gordon and Kyomi at the moment. Petros gently and with the same effort as before scooped up Lucy from his shoulder and set her on the ground.

"Sorry Lady Lucy, duty calls." Petros spoke in a low tone. "Whats the plan?" Petros asks Semaj.

"I want you to provide cover fire for anyone going in. That means make your shoots count and don't miss. We don't know who is still alive out there." Semaj replied laying down a quickly thought of plan.

"Meliae..." A small pocket sized forest golem poked its head out of Semaj's cloak. "Suit up for the recovery of those Gnomes. I want their bodies pulled from the fray live or dead. No need for more closed caskets than necessary. And make sure you look intimating while doing it." Without so much as a yes the pocket golem jumped from Semaj and disappeared into the forest. Semaj moved his potion up to Gordon's right side.

"Sorry to just start things on my own but those downed Gnomes will be off the battle field in a few moments." Semaj explained. Off to the group's left about 50 yards a loud roar was heard and birds where seen fleeing the area.

"Meliae must have found a good tree to use. She will also draw fire if anyone is still hanging around." Semaj commented as what now looked like a large Trent stomped out of the forest at the Gnome's position. Hopefully the recovery would go without incident. If not Petros was ready with ranged attacks from rocks he would pull from the ground, Thuriya already had a bow ready, Kaelas was every ready with his dart tube and that wasn't even counting half of the group's current abilities.

"Surprised? I sent the Mining guild many messages about the wraith movements here. I've had dealings with them for several years now I thought they where smarter then this." Gordon growled.

"Gord?" a squeak comes from one of the ruined diggers. A small head, belonging to a gnome, pops out from the wreck. "Gordon! Am I glad too see you! We where attacked!"

"Well no doubt!" Gordon Yells back a the gnome. "I've been warning the Guild about the wraiths here for weeks! I can't Believe-"

"WHAT?" The Gnome yells back as he get closers to Gordon. "Those things where wraiths? Great Gears! The Guild told me the worst we'd have too deal with was the odd Iron dwarf."

Gordon looks down at the gnome, now only feet away. "Well I'm glad your alright Sprocks, but I think it's time you'll had a little chat with some of your superiors." Gordon holds his hand towards the destruction.

Before Sprocks could agree a metallic screech rings out as the wreck he just climb out collapses, and out roars a Clock Work Elephant climbs out of the destroyed digger.

"You've got to be kidding me!" Gordon exclaims.

Upon encountering the scene, old habits kick in, and Shan pulls out his dagger. His grim stare scans the area, first taking note of the terrain - places for defense or for attack, and any tracks, trails, or paths where what did this might have come or gone. He also keeps note of the number of the fallen.

He notes the gnome talking with Gordon, but pays little attention to their conversation.

When the Clockwork Elephant erupts from beneath the digger, Shan holds his ground and sizes up this enemy. He slips off the straps of his backpack and gently places it on the ground behind him.

"Who wants to take that?" he asks, referring to the Elephant.

88 Enters the clearing at the back of the group and grinds to a halt steam hissing from his joints.

On his shoulder, Pond glances down at the nearest wreckage, his eyes settling on the mangled torso of a gnome, that grisly sight and the smell of death combined gives him no choice but to take immediate action:

"blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh cough cough ....... blaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!"

88 with a near imperceptible motion shakes his head in disgust at his companion. While the boy is occupied he turns his impassive eyes on the emerging threat.

"With the array of golems and missile weapons already trained on it, rickottes and shrapnel would be the only real threat and even those only to the boy" He thought to himself, "oh well at least it might stop him being sick".

Valadin's eyes flash and he moves forward, dart tube firing at a steady pace as he lumbers towards the mechanical beast. Voice rising in a cheerful war cry, the golem knight goes forth to do battle. Given that he said earlier that he fight Caerula regularly, a simple Clockwork Elephant shouldn't be much of a problem, but given that this is a group quest, it would only be fitting should another of his party decide to lend their strength to the fight as well.

They'll be more fighting, he's sure...

As Meliae sees the Clockwork Elephant she stops for just a moment as she calculates he best options. The tree she had taken over, though big and menacing looking, would not last long in direct combat with the monster that stood before she. She bared down on the ground and drove the her roots into the ground. They then popped out up and around the Clockwork elephant, restraining its legs holding it down. Then vines sprang from the tree pulling the bodies of every gnome unable to move on its own to safety. Unsure how long the roots would hold the Elephant Meliae worked quickly to remove the gnomes from the battle field.

Meanwhile after the Clockwork elephant was restrained a large rock smashed into the side of it, followed by another. A non moving target was easy to hit but it would take more than a few rocks to take down the giant beast.

Semaj was shaking his head. "I hate it when I am right...."

Seeing that her task would be redundant, she shrugs and turns just in time to see the Elephant crash onto the scene.

Without a word, she stands, hugs her book, and Her Shadow is there in an instant to pick her up and run away with her, just far enough to keep her from anything that might fly apart if the construct is hit to hard.

Like.... Say those large rocks.

Together, they each pointed at the rocks as they sailed towards the elephant, and with a word in unison, they become icy comets a moment before impact.

The Clock Work Elephant Attempts to charge Valadin before it smashed by a a ice covered rock, sending it staggering and confused. The Clock work can figure out who to attack and eventually slumps into a pile on top of the digger.

"Umm okay..." Gordon says, before turning his attention back to Sprocks. "So what happened here?"

"Well Like I was saying we where attack by a bunch of shadowy critters, what did you call em? Wraiths? Ya they just out of that old entrance and started destroying everything. I think our golems managed to bring down a couple but mostly they where destroyed." Sprocks replied.

"Ya but what happened to your crew?"

"Well most of them got away I think, there probably in Nournsland now. He looks at the 3 corpses laying near by, "There was around 30 of us, so I guess I'll start checking the wreckage..." The gnome says just as his voice voice starts cracking.

"...yeah..."
Shan relaxes, a bit disappointed. The Clockwork Elephant barely had a chance. He returns his focus to the battlefield without waiting for it to fall.

He opens his pack and digs out his first aid supplies. Fates willing, he could be useful for something.

Seeing the only known foe fall to their united strength, Valadin takes a moment to honor his opponent's valiant, if hopeless, effort before moving back towards the group.

"Although it doth rend mine heart to see the unconscionableness misfortune that hath befallen these tiny workers both true and stalwart, the noble art of healing, alas, is not one of the many disciplines that I have dedicated myself to mastering, and so I would suggest that perhaps it might be wisest to allocate our strengths to the tasks best suited to each, of which I would request that I be one of thes brave few that go forth after the cowardly wraiths so that they may be prevented from repeating this most terrible of tragedies."

As he speaks, he quickly and competently reloads his dart tube with fresh darts even as he scans the area for new threats.

[OOC, I was requested to provide summaries of Valadin's words. So. "I don't know first aid. I suggest we split up. I want to go with the wraith hunting group." Yes, he really took all that, to say that. He reads way too many old pre-Cataclysm stories for his own good.}

Lucy Silent until now walks forward and hands the grief stricken Sprocks a small pack with several small healing potions. "If you find any survivors this should keep them alive until aid arrives." Lucy turns back to Gordon, "Well we best continue in." She begins walking forward towards the entrance into Old forged mountain that was now barely visible through the smoke and fog.

Kyomi perks suddenly, and with a look to Her Shadow, start scratching a large pentagram into the ground.

"Golat!" Kyomi says raising her book.

A moment later, a medium sized iron golem 'pops' into existence scrubbing its back with a very large and soapy wire brush.

"...Always when I am in the shower, it seems." He says sarcastically.

With a smile, but without answering, Kyomi turns to Gordon, "I can bring some rear guards out, to keep this area secure. Since you're in charge, how big a force should we leave here?"

(ooc: if you recall from the last battle, masterslug had Golat ready the old OTAKU iron guard...)

"I would imagine 6 would suffice against a wraith if they stood in a tighter formation." Gordon opens a book before dragging his index finger along several names. "I've called several SFC Guards and Clay works to help in the rescue and help clean up this mess... They should be here in ten our fifteen minutes." Gordon says putting his small note book away before gazing at his watch.

"Well i suppose we should head in." Gordon turns and beings catching up with Lucy.

As the group decides their actions Semaj finds himself atop the fallen mechanical pachyderm. He examines it momentary and tries to get a good look at the pieces that once made it run.

"Fantastic!" He declared as he reached into the gears and pulls out oval-ish orb about a half foot long with a dim glow to it. "Ancient Chinese secret, all machines have a power source and this one still has a little juice in it and is intact." Semaj started fiddling with the core's stray wires as he walked back to Petros and the group. "Meliae! Come on girl, and leave the tree there." He yelled back to his little forest golem whom sprang from the heart of the big tree and quickly scurried back under Semaj's cloak.

"Are you sure that's safe to do father?" Petros asked Semaj. "You remember last time, right?"

"Yes Petros, and it won't happen again. You remember I just spent the last two weeks learning from my mistakes... well and making new ones but still. By the way nice shoot'in back there, you did really good." Semaj said.

"Thank you father" Petros replied.

"Kyomi, nice thinking with the ice. If we could just stay this organized this mission should go smooth as silk." With that Semaj touched two of the wires together on the power source he pulled from there fallen foe and it quickly grew brighter and he even more quickly pulled the wires apart again. "Well that was almost too soon." Semaj joked with a sigh of relief as he tucked the orb away. "To OZ?" Semaj asked asked the group before remember that he was referencing to a movie made in a different dimension. "Ah... rather, lets go!"

Eying Semaj's actions curiously for a moment, Valadin shrugs before following after Lucy. Although he has not doubt that not only can the Lady handle herself very well, but that Lord Gorden would fall a thousand times before allowing her to come to harm, he still wishes to be on hand to give his protection if needed. While the mighty clay golem gives females the utmost respect and knows full well their worth (with a Mother such as Phedre, how could he not?), Valadin nonetheless feels that it is a male's duty and privilege both to stand between them and danger.

As he follows, Valadin raises a hand to his ear, then begins to speak very softly, apparently to himself. At extreme length of course...
