From the far side of the clearing a portly figure steps through the undergrowth. He stops and scans the scene, first the wreckage of the Mining Guild diggers, then on too those that managed to escape the collapsing mountain. Picking out Lucy and Laiden standing not too far apart he approaches them. A short delay after he enters, the sound of trees breaking can be heard. A platoon of very large, very heavily amoured golems come to a halt at the edge of the clearing, while the noise continues out of sight as two further detachments head both South and North of the mountain.

Masterslug brushes some of the dust off his coat as he steps forward. "Ahem! Looks like I'm a little late for this one." He comments casually "I see a few faces missing, Notably Gordon and all of the OTAKU contingent, No casualties I hope?" Despite his calm and collected manner it's clear that he's worried.

Laidan gives a small shrug. "It's hard to say with Gordon, you never know what's going to happen when that guy's around. I expect they made it out safe. The only casualty I can confirm so far seems to be Semaj's golem."

Glances over to the crumpled figure of Semaj "Petros!? damn that's not going to be easy on him. Thanks Laiden." Replied Masterslug quietly

"Well I was expecting this too last a little er longer, so I brought a couple of barrels from our cellar if any one wants to clear the dust from your throat" remarks Masterslug loud enough for all present to hear. "There's also a field hospital, a mobile forge and workshop, some spare resources, 3 whole sets of ready made parts and some power, eyes and armour"

He turns and nods towards the woods. Off to the side of the Armoured golems a smaller group appear made up of; half a dozen unarmoured construction golems (mixture of stone and clay), a number of apprentices and a couple of old Iron golems pulling a large cart. The apprentice start unloading the cart while the construction Golems following a few quick commands from MS head towards the mountain and start digging.

Wandering back towards the apprentices he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a playing card. "let's see if this is working yet, stupid magic communica...." he grumbles staring at the card "Kyomi? You there?"

Kyomi's face starts to show upon the card, but doesn't come clear.
"Ma..er..ug! .orry! Used . bom. .ol.m. Didn'. .ork!" The card makes some gawdawful screeching sound, "Got out with Gordon, but not sure whe..." another screech of interference, then nothing.

Turning away from looking blankly at the wall, Kyomi looks now at Gordon, "Thank you for the direction, it was all I could do to... well, never mind." She paces back and forth a bit, looking at Gordon's sanctum.

"Mistress..." Her Shadow says quietly, "You are still not recovered..."

"He doesn't seem to care, and I'm tired." Kyomi replies, her body still that of a half demon. "Or do you?" She turns back to Gordon.

Ceriph's eyes suddenly flash, then awareness floods back in. Blinking a little, she kneels next to Semaj, her arm crossing his back to offer a hug. Her voice small, slightly uncertain but honest, she tries to speak to him.

"I've lost some toys... and a squirrel that I found all hurt... but..." She swallows hard. "I know I could lose my big brother every time he goes off to battle. It hurts inside, feels all cold and tight." Careful of her size, her power, she gently rubs his back, then starts to singsong a simple children's tune about little boys and girls going to play at the end of the rainbow, in forests and fields blessed with endless summer.

His eyes moist (they were built able to cry?), Valadin turns to Masterslug and bows. "The apprentice Pond was sent from the battlefield before the climax by Lady Kyomi and the iron golem" he informs the Magus after his 'call' is completed.

Semaj accepts the hug. He even cracks a small smile as Ceriph begins to sing. He then gently tugs on her arms to be released from her grip. He stands up and turns to face Ceriph.

"You know, the only real problem I wasn't able to fix with Petros was the fact that he acted more human than most humans I know. It appears to be a problem with most of you self aware golems." Semaj manages a half smile though his eyes are still filled with sorrow. Then at the edge of the cooling magma pile that was Petros he sees something.

"Figures that thing would survive." Semaj walks over to the object. It was the sleigh bell he gave Petros for Christmas. He shakes the bell. Then he looks over to Ceriph and tosses it to her.

"I imagine you can hear it ring. I am sure Petros wouldn't mind you having it. Never lose that human spirit you got. Once you do you can't get it back." Semaj then turned and headed over to the barrels brought over by Masterslug.

"It's been a hell of a day." He comments as he takes the first drink of many to come.

Finlay climbing out of the the rubble that had accumulated five levels high the wraith enter into a stable section of the city. From there it marly followed the air currents until it out it's self at what would have been a watch tower many years ago. The wraith had been injured, and it's robes tattered and burnt, but it was already healing, it's robe renitting itself. With out further delay the wraith moves out of the tower into the waning day it's form a dark silhouet in the sky, and as it said before, it headed due south.

Gordon replies with a kind yet exhausted smile, "Mind it's not every day I get show a beautiful woman my own sanctum." Some of the exhaustion leaves Gordon's eyes as his smile fills with mirth. "But what kind of host would I be if I where to neglect my guest. If there's anything you'd require I'll do my best to indulge you."

"Kyomi! Kyomi are you safe don't tr... damit come back" a relieved looking Masterslug turns sliding the card back into his pocket, then turns at the voice of Valadine. He returns the bow with a absentminded nod.

"Oh no not Pond, why did he..?" Masterslug turns slightly white. "Well I guess that explains what we found just down the...". He cut's him self off mid sentence then composes him self "Thank you erm, I'm sorry, I'm not sure we've had the pleas ... wait did you say Iron Golem! what Iron Golem!?"

"Valadin de la SaKuronue" Valadin replies out of habit, then blinks. "...I seem to recall Lady Kyomi giving the noble if taciturn iron the designation of '88' unless mine memory doth betray me" he finally replies, obviously starting to revert to non-combat speech. He frowns, then looks back at the cave. "And... I cannot say I recall seeing him leave but... I pray I am mistaken."

Catching the bell, Ceriph lifts it up to the sunlight. This causes it to jingle ever so softly and her eyes light up. Across the clearing, Valadin looks over at her, curious about why Semaj would not be certain Ceriph would be able to hear the cheerful sounding bell. Following after Semaj, Ceriph peers at the grieving Magus.

"Papa sat with me when my squirrel died 'cause you shouldnae be alone when you're sad" she informs him firmly. "So I'll sit with you." Eying the barrels, she privately decides that she'll pass on drinking the smelly stuff though. Wonder if any of them have apple juice in them, she wonders suddenly. Or grape juice. Or orange juice. But not cranberry juice. Or milk. Cause milk in a barrel would be icky.

(Ceriph is a very good and caring girl but she's also less then ten years old mentally so...)

Hearing the news of Petros death Lucy at first didn't move, but then signaled to the nearest of the SFC clay golems. "Here." Lucy walked to behind Semaj and gently squeezed his shoulder. "If you'd like, I'll have one of the golems transport Petros to the Depot or your work shop." Lucy knelt down wrapping and arm around the grieving man.

"Your Papa is a smart man." Semaj commented to Ceriph as he refilled his glass. Then entered Lucy which Semaj would not let kneel to the ground but did appreciate the gesture of sentiment.

"I thank you Lady Lucy but there would be no point. You can't rebuild a golem like Petros and to reuse his remains would be, well wrong."

Semaj looked back over at the still warm rock remains.

"Meliae, grow a tree over Petros' remains, this one." Meliae jumped out of Semaj's cloak at once with the seed and began to grow the tree. It was a cherry blossom. And it was soon in full bloom. Meliae came back when the job was done.

"I think I will leave him here. He never carried much for the depot or my workshop, but nature was where he felt at home." Semaj sighed as he raised his glass. "There will never be another like you Petros Craig, my son." Semaj then chucked the glass and set it on top the barrel.

"I should be going. Thank you all for your sympathies." Unless stopped Semaj would start the long walk home. Normally he would teleport but he figured the walk would give him time to think.

((OOC: The bell was explained much earlier in the rp. Its one of Santa's sleigh bells. Generally only children can hear it. Though Semaj can hear it and I image many of the sparked golems that are young at heart or uncorrupted by adulthood can too.))

Ceriph looks over at Valadin, who nods. With an effort, Ceriph manages to follow after Semaj with some sense of decorum. She'll walk him home, maybe tuck him into bed with some hot soup or tea... that's what her Mom does when she feels icky or sad so maybe it'll work for old Magus people too. As she does, she jingles the bell every so often, picks random flowers to make into a crown and hums to herself.

[OOC: I recalled the story of the Bell but Valadin doesn't realize what it is- as far as he can tell, it's just a Bell with a very beautiful sound.

Ceriph, as all can rather easily see, is very much the type to believe in Santa. Valadin, while much older mentally, roughly in his early twenties, is such a darned noble hearted guy that he would *love* the idea of a man that gives gifts to the innocent and young. So I assumed he'd be able to hear it as well.

Finally, Valadin is remaining behind to help clean up and so forth.]

OOC: So Ya we all go home now and yes that "wraith" is fine, and I should mention he has a good memory to boot (or wait didn't he mention that himself?).

Yamiko if you could lock this thread up some time tomorrow, just in case some one wants to add something in the mean time.

The wraith saga, as it's been coined ;), will pick up in a couple weeks, so be sure to Participate in victors party.

The OTAKU party worked tirelessly for several days trying to reopen the mountain to little avail. The Surrounding area was search on the off chance of finding 88 or the wraith. After concluding that the wraith must be long gone and 88 would have been crushed in the collapse, the decision was finally made to leave Old Forge Mountain to the miners but with a small platoon of armed guard.

-----------

When the cost was finally clear, a large figure steps out of the woods. 88 wear a complete set of new armour looks down on Petros' Grave with his newly acquired Sapphire Eyes and shakes his head.

"I can't believe they buried you and I though I was mad, those magi have learnt so much and yet.... Well can't be helped things to do, I'll come back for you, enjoy the rest while you can, in the mean time this might help"

88 digs a hollow in between the trees roots and slides a Dark Shadow Gem and a small leather bag into it, covering over with soil and a pat of his hands. Then with a smirk he vanishes into the undergrowth.

"Only one of them knew. Semaj must have hid a lot from himself."

Petros spoke from his melted body. An arm came up out of the igneuos rock. Then another arm. Then Petros seemed to pull himself up and out of his grave. He looked a lot less refined than before. His diamond eyes smokey and the right one cracked.

"No, this won't due. I need to be less noticeable than before." Petros said. He began to compact his body. When he was done he was ruffly 8 feet tall and very human shaped. The new shape and new dark colorful rock should make him far less recognizable.

"As soon as I find a cloak and some robes no one should notice me." Petros commented. He then looked at the bag in his hand. "This should prove useful too." He then noticed his right hand was smoldering. "Interesting, powers are growing and changing. The seal must have held a lot in. After I am sure I can control myself I head south."

Petros also vanishes into the forest.

"Father was right about 88 though. What an interesting golem."
