Any melee clan members have experience with the flamespiral scimitar? My clan has recently achieved library 8 and I'm considering the scimitar for use with copper golems. I'm wondering if the high elemental damage is worth halving the speed of the golem.

Thanks for any answers.

Hmm this is our next weapon option too so I'm also interested to know.

A copper with the weapon, on paper does around 25% less damage against no armour and about 5% more damage against a fairly heavy armour. But that doesn't take into acount accuracy and the many possible armour or Mob resistance variations.

So how does it perform in reality?

Not to mention energy use. We have not picked it up, but were considering doing so at one point. I am pretty sure Magier did take it, and they have an open joining policy and didn't mind when we asked to have a member stop by to take a test run with some of their weaponry.

We have had Library 14 for a while now, without any new toys gained from it, and I think TOMU has been at 13 with nothing new to play with, anyone heard rumors of new stuff coming down the line?

Hmm. I think I'm going to end up choosing it. So if anybody would like to stop in and do some testing with it, feel free to come by.

Did a test run with the scimitar during the day.

Golem: Copper 5 with steam engine, diamond eyes, +10 bonus, and burning aura.

KILL IT WITH FIRE did 916 dmg while his Iron Golem did 54 dmg.

The defender lost its light iron plate, iron studs, iron studs, light iron plate and hand cannon.

The wall took 1284 dmg and has fallen 14 levels.

Seems to do OK.

Has anyone experience with the Cat-o-nine Tails yet? What does the area effect mean? The slots are getting more and more expensive, so wildly choosing weapons is painful. How does the area effect work out? You hit more than one body part with each hit?

As I recall it was something like it wasn't supposed to actually have that tag and that the tag doesn't do anything currently. But I don't remember very well either so not 100% on it.

Sorry, the only area effect I am familiar with is the Ranged version.
Which is really just a different way to calculate ammo usage. More flavor than mechanics.

Thanks for the info! So this weapon is discarded as a choice for now sadly.

The rough story there.

The person who designed the weapon did not know the Area of Effect tag has no effect on a melee weapon.

I've been told the tag has been removed/The item fixed.

(I might suggest an increase in speed and/or decrease in energy cost to get the same effect.)
