The room is large - not surprising, as it's the Grand Ballroom at one of the swankier hotels in town rather than being hosted on the university campus proper. A light blue and silver theme predominates; the walls are swathed with wide banners in light silvery blue, and the waiters - a quartet of glass golems - are decked out in light blue suits with silver trim. Of course, the theme being a Cinderella-esque Masque with an emphasis on golemkind, the color choice isn't surprising, nor is the small table outside the room asking people to write their full name and title - or the name and title they'd prefer to be introduced by - on a card and hand it to the clay golem just inside to call out.

The guests have been asked to dress in their finest costumes and to incorporate golem-esque attributes to their costume - a challenge most have risen to take. The guest list includes the entire faculty, staff, and graduate student body of the university as well as select undergradutes; in addition, anyone who's anyone of importance in Muelsfell has been invited - particularly if they've met the hostess, Ceriph.

The occasion is a rather unusual one - "A gathering to celebrate the creation and life of Sn1 Viktor mk 1 in grand style". The guest of honor looks rather uncomfortable in his tuxedo, a rather ornate bronze crown atop his head courtasy of the hostess.

OOC - It's a costume ball, so please describe your character's outfit as you enter - and feel free to go wild with the outfits. Also, you can have Valadin announce you as you enter so we don't hold things up. As the preceding implied, anyone that can remotely justify being here is welcome to post. Ceriph's understanding of parties includes the 'more people=better party' idea.

EDIT: Just to clarify, this is taking place about a week after the Forged Wraith incident.

The first announcement of the night rings through the hall, echoing off the marble floor as Valadin reads the notecard - not that he needs it, of course, for this particular couple.

"Presenting: SN Five Viktor Mark One and his Lady, CU Twelve Mechblaze Mark One."

Said Lady has never been able to escape being Blaze's identical twin, nor does she attempt to hide it tonight; her dark fibrous hair is braided, however, where Blaze's was last seen worn loose, and she wears an elegant silver ballgown where Blaze would never be seen in such finery. Still, she's bound to turn a few heads - particularly among those wary of another uprising.

On Five's arm, she approaches the birthday boy, giving an elegant curtsy. Viktor looks uncomfortable for a moment, but manages a bow back, and is immediately relieved to see she's not going to fall to her knees and begin worshipping him or anything silly like that. He's never grown used to being an important figure among his people - he's always just been focused on his Lady, who has yet to arrive but surely will arrive soon. The invitation couldn't have been lost in the post, could it?

Wearing a glittering brass colored silk robe (as duly instructed by his daughter and wife), Kaelas takes one last look around the room before nodding. He'd been dubious about going to the trouble of renting a room instead of just using the Conference Hall but this is pretty nice, all in all. And having staff to do the clean-up this time around is worth the admittedly paltry cost- a well established Magus can pretty much afford any civilian luxury he so desires.

A replica screaming iron mask hangs from a cord but is currently resting on his shoulder, which only drawls more attention to the large black and lightly furred wings emerging from slits in his robe. Not very golem-like but certainly eye-catching. All in all, he looks rather relaxed, tanned and rather constantly rubs the simple white gold ring on his left hand absently.

Despite being a golem already, Ceriph has decided to follow her own rules and has dressed in a dazzling gown of blue with silver highlights. Designed to appear almost blocky in accordance with adamantine metal construction, her dress treads a fine line between mimicking her target and being elegant. Her silver tiara helps the elegantly cute part but it's her sunny smile that really tips the scales. Skipping around the room like a hyperactive kitten doesn't hurt though.

Valadin is wearing copper banding in place of his normal heavy steel plating in order to appear as a copper golem. He seems largely resigned to this burden and stands ready near the entrance to announce people and golems as they arrive. Every once in a while, he absently neatens the guest book, pens and party favors on the nearby table.

The Chancellor (strictly speaking, Co-Chancellor), leans back against a slightly out of the way wall, then looks over at his new bride. Phedre has outdone herself, having spent weeks working on her own costume. Also made primarily from silk, her gown is designed to complement her family's outfits- a very complicated pattern of silver and gold threads make various geometric shapes against a dark blue background. She intended for this dress for Yami but couldn't get the fabric to sit right on the younger girl's build. Not one to waste a good thing, she'd happily adapted it for herself. Noticing her husband's gaze, she smiles at him, then nods at the newcomers, one eyebrow raised.

Five, dressed in a dark blue suit (to compliment Mech and his own bronze coloring), gives Viktor a bow and a soft smile. "It's good to see you again" he greets Viktor in his smooth voice, then looks around. "Is there a designated place to put-" He cuts off as Ceriph pops up beside him and neatly plucks the package out from under Five's arm. "Cool awesome super-duper sweet!" she cries out, eyes dancing, before darting off to the far wall where an empty table is set next to a massive ten layer cake.

And, yes, it's chocolate. Dark chocolate with fudge swirls and chocolate mouse filling, glazed with a sweet honey and berry icing, dribbled with caramel and confectioners sugar and topped with dozens of cordial cherries. Alpha may have made it but Ceriph chose it.

"Presenting: Raiden Kuronue, Recent Magus Graduate of Chaos Theory"

Raiden had put a lot of thought into his costume...mostly because he wasn't sure for the longest time exactly HOW to make his costume. He had spent several nights and some days actually planning, crafting, scrapping, and re-crafting ideas. After some time, he finally had his solution and was now attending the party in style. He had even had time to make a little present for Victor, seeing that it was his birthday...which in and of itself was possibly the most intriguing thing about the evening. He understood why he had a birthday, as everyone wanted something to begin and end in a sensible fashion, but for a being that comes into actual conciseness after being assembled. Anyway, there were several days after today to contemplate.

The costume in general was...special, to say the least. It was a fancy suit done in several earthly tones, varying from light and sandy for the undershirt, to a deep, dark brown made of a smooth fabric that gave it a slight sheen as that of formed clay. The crowning achievement was the mask he was wearing made of clay. It had the basic look of a face, thought the features and small bits would shift every now and again and gave it a very flowing look. Small details would form, warp, and fade away as he walked into the room.

"Presenting: Sconibulus Arquolin and Grieving Lily"

Sconibulus walks into the room with Lily on his arm, she resplendent in dress woven of fresh honeysuckle, and he dressed as, well, what else? He's 'The Imp', although he did make an effort to pattern the costume loosely on his imp, Cheestery, notable in his absence.

His face has taken on a gaunt, almost skeletal appearance, (Lily works wonders with powders) and has acquired a rusty tint. He nods at, and takes a circuitous route towards, the guest of honour, taking a few moments to chat with assorted notables en route.

The lady outside the door wore a simple black dress, possibly a little on the casual side for this formal of an event; her pale green hair, however, is done up in an elaborate tangle of curls tucked and woven into an elegant style, with a tendril dangling to either side of her young, petite face, lending a formality to the dress that it otherwise lacked. Currently, however, her green eyes were narrowed in anger at the clay golem's insistence that she provide an invitation to be allowed in.

"Don't you know who I am?" she demands, crossing her arms. "I'm Jellikal Stanton."

"Of course I know the most honored personage that doth assist mine Father in his work at the worthy University and most certainly give greetings and welcome to this most joyous of celebrations, Lady Stanton de TOMU, but I must have your invitation so as to properly present you to the honorable gathered." Valadin politely explains.

Her date for the evening wears black suit pants and a black tuxedo-style vest, showing off large amounts of his glittering, brass-colored skin; dangling against his bare chest was a square dogtag stamped "Property of TOMU", hanging from a black leather collar. The attention to detail was exquisite for a golem - truly lifelike, including a rising and falling chest. The golem - probably Sparked, by the amused expression upon its face - crossed its arms impatiently, as though to threaten the clay with its superior build. And yet, it was a rather thin looking brass, not very muscular at all, and a little short for a....

Oh. Well then. What exquisitely well-crafted body paint the human wore under his well-tailored outfit. And also what a pitiful threat he'd make should their request for entry come to blows.

As though sensing the disturbance, Alpha heads to the front door to mediate. Dressed as a wood golem with a green and brown tunic and actual Rowan branches in his hair, he looks almost Fae. "Lady Stanton does have an invitation," he mentions softy. "Our sister sent her one, as Father's assistant."

"I do?" asks Jelli, blinking. "I mean. Of course I do." She hands over the hand-written name card with a flourish, entering the room, one hand holding her little black purse, the other holding one end of the leash to her date.

"Presenting: Lady Jellikal Stanton and guest."

"Presenting: Sovereign Magistrate Gordon Ironsmith, and his Wife, Lady Lucy, of Securities and Futures Commission."

Gordon entered the room with his wife on his left arm, his first personal appearance since the events at Old Forged Mountain, hopeful putting any worries of his personal condition to rest. Gordon is dressed in a fine suit of black silk, and a white linen shirt stylized with silver thread. On his head is a strange set of magnifying glasses that make him look some machine-like, of the lens the only one pushed over his eye is green. Under his right arm was a small package in simple sky blue wrapping with a red ribbon holding it together.

Still at his arm, it was clear to see that Lucy's costume was considerably more complex...

Lucy was wearing a silk pearl-white dress along with a matching shawl. her clothing wasn't what was surprising though, both her arms appeared to be made of gold. upon a closer look one could see that with in the gold where swirling line of metallic blue, as though her arms where inlaid with Adamantine.

Since the room hadn't filled up yet it was simple to spot out the golem of the hour, whom they headed towards, taking time to stop from the usual pleasantries.

"Presenting Magistrate Laidan Artise and Lady Corsica"
The girl at Laidan's side wears an elegant ballgown in adamantine-blue, silver threads running through it to give it a bit of sparkle; the upper portion, around her chest, has many gems stitched into it, to add additional sparkle. The dress is sleeveless; shoulder-length dark grey metallic-colored gloves provide the illusion of arms made of iron, save for the bare shoulder of pale flesh. Atop the gloves she wears bronze and brass bangles, a handful on each arm, to provide extra glitter. Her hair is silver streaked with gold; her face is covered by a mask that leaves only her mouth free, the eyes hidden behind faceted glass set into the clay-and-gem mask. As she enters, those near to her can smell a strong, woody perfume, somewhat reminiscent of a forest in spring. Her shoes, similarly, are made of some sort of glass or crystal. All in all, it evokes a patchwork sort of feel, much like her date's costume, while effectively hiding her identity.
Laidan is dressed in a well tailored sapphire studded vest with iron grey sleeves. He has a cummerbund matching his date's dress, but with darker accent threads. His buttons and cufflinks, and boots appear to mimic dragon scales, shimmering slightly as he moves. His slacks are a textured grey, reminiscent of granite. Topping off the outfit appears to be a similar mask to the lady's, but his is pushed up on top of his head, hiding any details on it from view for the moment.
The couple follows the trend, heading to place their gift on the table and greeting whoever they cross paths with on the way.

Smiling happily, Ceriph takes the gifts from everyone to place on the table to suit her. Then rearranges it again for reasons know only to her. Nodding once to show her satisfaction with this arrangement, she turns back to face the room to see the newest arrivals. Her eyes widen a little as they take in their costumes as she bounds over to greet them.

"Oooooh" she breathes out, her competitive brattiness competing with her manners and innate friendliness. "I loooove the bracelets" Ceriph finally says. "Wheredja get them, miss Lady?"

Intercepting young Raiden, Kaelas gives a appreciative nod. "I like the costume- must have taken some work to get those enchant just right but it paid off." Looking around at the half dozen and growing Magi around, plus the thirty odd Sparked golems that had been here before the party had started (given the nature of the party, the TOMU golems had been very happy to help set up), Kaelas adds "the costume competition is going to be rather close, I'm thinking."

As Laiden enters, a handful of the exotic TOMU golems stand suddenly, their expressions less than welcoming. Having been half expecting this, Five is quickly at their sides, murmuring to them gently but in a very no nonsense tone.

Spotting the faux brass arriving with Jellikal, Phedre makes her way towards the pair. For some reason, her escort seems very familiar.

Feeling that someone of the SaKuronue family should greet the leader of a friendly Clan, Alpha stirs himself from his now common despondency to approach Gordon and Lucy. Giving a somewhat rusty bow, he greets politely. "On behalf of my kin Viktor- and my little sister- I welcome you to the... Bestest Birthday Bash Ever with Costumes and Cake and Gifts." His lips quirk a little at the name Ceriph had bestowed on the event.

Thankfully, Valadin will just stand by his table and announce people.

[OOC: once it seems that the party is well started, I'll start up an OCC thread for everyone to vote and so forth in. And I'll figure out prizes and so forth too, just for funs.]

EDIT: clarified who Alpha was talking to.

The newly-appointed "Lady" tenses as the ball of energy approaches her, her grip on Laidan's arm tightening to rather improper levels, but she manages to keep her cool. "A.. a shop on Diamond street," she stammers, her voice high and thin but slightly familiar-sounding.

As the sun sets into the horizon something appears on the skyline. As the object grows a trail of steam can be seem behind it along with a distinctive whooshing noise. A steam powered propeller drive airfoil soon comes into view and lands not far off from the hall entrance. The pilot steps off the aircraft and removes his goggles to the brim of his top hat.

The aviator goggles much resemble the diamond eyes often found on golems. The rest of his suit is merely a dusty tuxedo. His right arm is completely covered in cogs, hydraulics, and other steam powered metal accessories. It is held on by a strap around his chest going both over and under his left arm. On his left arm only sits a watch rigged to his hand by a leather strap to open as to read it when he flexes his wrist. And finally his boots are also covered in hydraulics and cogs and come up to slightly below his knees. All of the metal in his oulfet is a mishmash of copper, brass, and bronze.

He signals for on of the nearby golems to unload a large wrapped object from the back of his steam power helicopter. He approaches Valadin and hands him is invitation.

"Presenting: Semaj Sigmund Ambassador of Securities and Futures Commission."

He makes his way to the guest of honer and bows politely. It can still be seen in his face that he was depressed but at least Ceriph was able to convince him to show. After all she wouldn't leave his workshop after the walk there last week until he promised he would come.

((OCC: The gift is a giant mutant squirrel. Very friend and durable to be sure. :) ))

Raiden gave a polite nod, the mask giving features of someone around the age of 17. "Thank you, sir, I do try my best. Although, getting the enchantment to become something less than static was not the most difficult part. It seems that once you do such a thing, the enchantment has a hard time trying to remember the original form that the medium is supposed to hold and it would then become quite dangerous to wear." He remembered the several dummy heads he had gone through making sure that only the surface of the mask would shift an not the entire thing....though it DID show that clay was a medium that liked to contract more than expand.

The brassy "golem" with Jellikal gives a wide, playful grin as Phedre approaches before ducking into a bow. "Mistress Phedre! What a lovely surprise," he says, delightedly, in his smooth tenor. "Enjoying your nuptials?"

Phedre's eyes widen then she begins to laugh. "Ace! Well and don't yae look dashing." Leaning in a little closer, she frowns slightly. "Them clothes are mine but who made the collar? Yae been holding out on me?" she teases him lightly in her faint accent. But if Ace is that good at leather work, she'll be having some new duties for him at work...

"Diamond street" Ceriph repeats with a nods, intending to ask her mom if they can go shopping maybe tomorrow or something. Upon Laiden's compliment, she beams, curtsies, even blushes a little. "T-thank you, kind sir" she stammers a little before adding "but it's really Viktor's party I just helped with some of the details and I should go great the other guests so I'll talk to you both later you both look really swell and hey there's Semaj!"

With that last explosion of words, she's off to greet her new friend. "You're all clickie clackie!" she calls to him happily.

Sconi turns as Semaj enters, eyes going wide at the sight of the airship. He quickly turns back and whispers something in Lily's ear, then makes his way to the washroom.

Lily completes the circuit of the room and ends up in front of Viktor. Giving a curtsy, and smiling, "Happy birthday Viktor," then, softer and more serious, "I thought you weren't much for publicity, who talked you into this?"

Ace laughs. "Now that would be telling, wouldn't it? Don't worry. At this rate I'll be kicked out of school and back to full-time work in no time."

Jellikal gives him a disapproving look before curtsying to Phedre. "I helped him," she says, trying to enter the conversation.

Meanwhile, Viktor looks sheepish as Lily greets him. "I am not. This is part of what Maker Kaelas likes to call my rehabilitation. I am to interact with beings other than Lady Yamiko or Maker Kaelas or Lady Phedre. Sister Ceriph seemed to like the idea of a party."

"Clickie clackie? Very nice." Semaj commented on the comment of his wardrobe. "Its actual called steampunk but I guess clickie clackie works too." He gently smiles then points Ceriph's attention to the large wrapped box.

"I know it isn't your birthday but I got you something as a thank you for trying so hard to cheer me up. I got something for the birthday boy too but its at my workshop and I will need a few days to teach him how to use it. Either that or it becomes a novelty weapon." Steam escapes from Semaj's right arm as he moves it every now and again. He pulls a flask from his pocket and takes a sip.

"So you put this all together? Truly not bad." Semaj nods in approval as he observers the hall.

"Ah'm sorry, miss Jellikal" Phedre replies with a return curtsy. "Ah didnae mean to ignore yae, Ah was just surprised to see one of mah favorite apprentices in such a get-up." As she explains this, she's looking at Jellikal's dress.

After a moment, she makes a disappointed noise. "Now Ace, why would yae let this poor lass get her dress at Rathin's shop? He always overcharges students and yae know it." Realizing this might have seemed like she was criticizing Jellikal or her dress for that matter, she quickly adds, "Ah like his work mind yae- and your dress is a very good example of why the classic black dress is just that."

Jellikal smiles. "Well it's not as though I'm hard-up or anything like that. Not that there's anything wrong with working for a living..."

Arching an eyebrow, Phedre hums softly in what could be taken as agreement. "Ah see... well. If yae donnae mind, might Ah ask how yae two met? Yae seem quite close but Ah donnae recall Ace mentioning yae before or vice versa."
--
Across the room, Kaelas raises an eyebrow. "Good to hear that you're more... deliberate in your work than the Imp. I'm rather looking forward to your final essay on the relation of chaos and metal stress of armor in combat..." With a soft chuckle as he recalls the class discussion that has sparked Raiden's research, at least in that particular direction. "I had no idea that my simple comment that sometimes luck is deadly than any arrow would catch your interest so much."
--
Having calmed the group of exotics down, Five makes his way back to Mech slowly, stopping to offer a word or two to various golems along the way. One of the exotics, a small and slightly built bronze, gets up and makes her way to the refreshment table. Once there, she looks around guiltily, sees Five chatting with a clay golem, and heads towards Laiden- but in a roundabout fashion. Her face shows determination but it's forced and she's moving very hesitantly, with frequent glances back towards the group. Particularly at the largest of the coppers.
--
Beaming at Semaj, Ceriph starts to ask for her present when she remembers something. "Ohohohoh! I wanted to show you-" Reaching up to her neck, she lifts the red and green ribbon around her neck to reveal the bell Semaj had given her. "Mama gave me the ribbon for the bell so I could wear it around and stuff cause it sounds really pretty when I move around but she seemed a little sad about it."

Furrowing her brows as she tries to remember, she adds "she said something about it being a long time since she could hear a bell like this but I didn't really get it cause, well.." she shakes the bell, smiling broadly. "See? Well, I mean hear, but yeah." That done, she bounces a little. "Thank you for complimenting the party, I'm very glad you could make it" she expels in one quick burst as if reciting something she'd been instructed to say. "Gift?"

The movement of the golem towards Laidan catches the attention of another group of golems, this one entirely of brass. There's some whispering, then, unceremoniously, the smallest - who is wearing quite a good deal of eye shadow, which looks really weird on a golem - is pushed towards Laidan. She glances back, but doesn't protest, instead slinking a little closer, trying to look like she's totally not spying, nope, no way, just sort of shifting sideways.

Sconibulus, meanwhile, is climbing out a window and skulking around the building. A dastardly deed is clearly about to unfold, perhaps just the sort of diversion Laidan is hoping for.

Lily chuckles a bit, "Ah well, I suppose we all must deal with little annoyances. Speaking of," she continues, punching him lightly on the arm and shaking her finger at him, "Just because I sometimes bug you doesn't mean you're allowed to go months without visiting." A thought strikes her, and she opens a panel in her arm. "Oh, right, gift for you." She draws out a relatively small object wrapped in tissue. "Sconi made it, but it was my idea."

OOC: It's a golden heart(animal-type, not symbolic) with ruby arteries on a chain long enough to hang at about heart-position on Vik were he to wear it as a necklace. It can be openend like a locket, and inside is a key. (Vik knows what it's for, or will soon) It beats for a while when squeezed or closed, the rhythm dependent on the force, faster beats for harder actions.
