On behalf of the Knights Magier, I am excited to announce that the First Annual "Games of Clay" Tournament in Dimitra will be held this year.

The games shall be a competition of the most basic kind, a test of combat prowess between the competing golems, and their operators. The winner will be the owner of the golem who proves most capable of surviving the tournament duels. Complete rules are below.

-Father Kevin R. Coyne
On behalf of the Angelic Order of the Knights Magier, Office of the Crimson Banner, subcommittee on the Games of Clay

Qualifications for entry:
1) Any Magus may enter a golem into the competition.
2) Along with the golem, the Magus must designate two willing operators who will fight with the entering golem.
3) Both operators must reside within the Dimitra region.
4) The entering Magus may be one of the operators, but need not be, if he resides within the Dimitra region.
5) As the operators will be required to pass the entered golem between each other without modifying it, the operators must be in the same clan, or be able and willing to join into the same clan periodically during the tournament.

I am happy to announce that there will be no entry fees for the First Annual Games of Clay. This year, a cash prize of 10,000 Coins will be awarded to the winner of the tournament, and 4,000 Coins will be awarded to the runner up. Full rules will be coming shortly!

You've got the qualifications listed, you have the prizes and soon the rules, but maybe a description of what the heck this event is would be a good idea...

Rules:

Any eligible magus-golem-operator set may enter the tournament by posting their intention in this thread.
At the commencement of the games, all entered golems shall be entered into a single elimination bracket.
The bracket shall determine which golems engage each other in each match.
Eatch match consists of up to four sets.
At the beginning of each match, the order of the four sets is determined by random means.
Each set is designated by the operator from each team participating in it.
At the beginning of a set, the competing golems shall be given to the two designated operators, and the first attacker and defender will be determined by random means. The golems will be placed to guard their operator's workshop. The first attacker will then command an attack on the first defender. The first defender will then forward the defense report to the match's judge who will publicize the results, and determine if a "Win" was scored. If a win was not scored, the judge shall clear the first defender for their counter attack, and the first defender may attack the first attacker. The first attacker will then forward the defense report to the Judge to determine if a Win was scored. If not, they will move on to the next set.
A Win is scored if either golem has any part of its torso destroyed, if both of it's legs are removed, or if it no longer has a usable weapon. If a Win is scored, the match is ended, and the winning golem advances in the bracket.
Modifications to a golem's equipment may only be performed between matches and sets.
Repairs to a golem may only be performed between matches.
If a golem is unable to make a due attack:
If the golem is missing one leg, it may be replaced with a level one flesh leg immediately before the attack.
If the golem has only one HP on it's chest or overall HP score, one damage may be repaired immediately before the attack.
If the Operator lacks sufficient motivation, the set may be delayed.
The final match shall determine the first and second place prize winners.
If an unexpected event interrupts the smooth operation of the tournament, a judge may make any ruling consistent with the spirit of the tournament on how to continue.
Either the entering Magus or both operators may forfeit at any time during the tournament.
Any equipment lost during a fight rightfully belongs to the Magus who entered the golem it was lost from.
A judge's ruling may be appealed at any time.

Edit: The rules may be amended at any time. :P

Teal Dear version:
This is a combat tournament. The golems will be paired up, and fight each other till one of them breaks. If your golem doesn't break, it moves on. Last one standing wins.

As a note, if we don't get enough people in the tournament, first and second place prizes go to the first people who enter a golem. :P Enter today!

What if someone repairs between attacks of the same match? You have no way of telling.

They have combat logs, and if a golem starts with more hp in some part than it ended the last match with, it's a bit detectable

Only if it takes more damage than it had hp the last match.

Because the correct winner can still be determined, and the cheating party would only be saving themselves the risk of some permanent damage at the cost of their reputation, I feel that the risk of this form of cheating is tolerable.

Also, because some premium members will doubtlessly be involved, earlier detection of this kind of behavior will likely be possible. What to do in such a case is up to the discretion of the judges.

A more pressing matter will be what affect the new barricades will have on the tournament...

I wasn't going to have any this year, but compensating for these barricades might introduce some delays. If there are, it will probably be along the same lines the license are issued, "standard" for flesh through Clay and "exotic" for Stone and up.

Just to keep everyone updated, the solution we've decided on is that we'll simply scrap all the operators' walls when the tournament begins.

Because this increases the cost and difficulty of finding willing operators, we will also have a pool volunteers who will be able to act as operators for incomplete teams.
