| Yamiko nods, relieved. He understands, at least a little - she doesn't have to explain herself, have to tell him about her past. She can relax a little. She picks up the fork, scooping up some rice; before putting it in her mouth she pauses briefly to ask "What's the plan?" |

Laidan's face creases in a thoughtful frown, and he lets himself ramble a bit, giving her time to eat. "I've been considering that, but we lack some necessary facts. As I was leaving my workshop I ...ignored a report regarding an attack on my workshop from a member of the University. Nothing major, they merely disabled a bone golem. I assumed it was just Sconibulus, naturally, but knowing what I know now I fear it may have been someone looking for you. If your clan-mates have somehow connected your disappearance with my clan, what would they do? Since we don't know exactly how my assistant got to you, we don't know what evidence he may have left, or if he had help, from within Hereti-Corp, within the University, or otherwise. Or who might take advantage of this situation as and excuse to cause some mayhem. And I'm not just talking about Sconi. I think the 2 of us and my homunculus that I brought along would normally be safe on the roads, but now I'm not so sure." It's not paranoia if they're actually out to get you, right?
"Or maybe they'll just think you needed a day off. How do you expect things have gone in your absence?" |

| Yamiko makes a face, wrinkling her nose as she considers it. "I was in the middle of highly delicate inter-clan diplomacy. I'm afraid when I do return it might be to a war... but it's not worth my safety to try and prevent that, and if there is a war on it'll be even less safe to return now. If there isn't one yet, it can wait until morning. I sincerely hope that Kaelas has picked up where I left off and managed to delay the negotiations enough that I can fix the situation..." |

| Laidan looks a bit grim a the thought. "So there may be a three way conflict brewing, this could drag the entire realm into war." Then he cracks a wry grin "Or Kaelas could have everything well in hand and we only need worry about the personal ramifications, which are weighty enough by themselves." |

| Laidan suppresses a sigh, clearly too soon to be discussing it, but... He returns to his plate, eating in silence for a bit. "Would you like something to drink? I'm afraid all I can offer are water or wine at the moment." He asks, looking for a safe topic for a bit. |

| Laidan gets her a cup of water and sits again, but in a closer seat, just more than arms reach from her. He looks at her face for a moment, looking like he wants to say something but just can't figure out how to say it. |

| For her part, Yamiko avoids eye contact - no longer succumbing to the powerful urge to keep her head down and submit, she still worries she'll burst out in tears if she meets his eyes, and feels a powerful urge to continue seeming strong and together. |
