Just curious - how many XP *does* it take to increase your motivation?

Also, what are the Req's for a level 2 library?

Thanks in advance

100 xp per point of motivation, I think its constant. Visit the chart (under help) section near the middle to find how much motivation you get for leveling up as well as other rewards

Don't know the answer to the libary question though. Sorry

A level five workshop plus the needed resources.

Thanks for the answers on both counts. The Charts don't show the progression tree but we all know the documentation is lacking atm.

and 100 xp for ONE point of motivation. Frell, that's a lot of xp.

Do not forget that your motivation increases each level you advance. I believe its 4 points of motivation for every level.

Thats why I directed to the chart, It shows 'actual motivation gained by leveling' and 'max possible'

ok, going to level two, I understand that I am gifted 4 points of motivation, taking me from 50 to 54. But my Max is 70. 1600 xp just to fully realize the potential for my level rise seems just crazy.

The math here is troubling. If I fight a monster at my level, I will get 3xp. considering the motivation regen rate, this would take me 33 days of game time hacking away at the weak monsters and spending my xp nowhere else. I will get the same differential when I advance next level (+4 for free, +20 cap) so if I do not follow this route, I will fall behind.

If I am willing to fight a monster above my level and take the significant hit to resources for the repair - the best I can hope for is to reduce this to 20 days of game time.

I think its best not to buy motivation until it gets sensible to buy it instead of leveling (IE at higher levels) Because theres more benefits for leveling. But it gets expensive later so you may want to buy motivation instead, See? The option to buy motivation seems just like that, An option, not something thats needed, just something that helps

While on the one hand I agree with you - the other says that the game is in Beta and we are evaluating the mechanics and game balance of the "option"

In my opinion, Motivation is a critical skill but the cost of improvement makes the cost benefit not worth the while. As I go up in level, my recovery time improves as well, skewing the costs in favor of waiting. I'm just asking, why bother giving me a option at level two that I would be foolish to exercise until many levels later?

So you can mess up? I'm still sad about wasting 25 xp on my flesh golem to upgrade its strength >.>

The cost of extra motivation points is arbitrarily high right now. It will be tweaked. :)

Likely it'll move to an increasing cost based on how many points you've purchased already.

It's not necessarily a waste. A stronger golem can carry more loot. This may not mean a whole lot when fighting monsters but I saw a huge difference when raid workshops (1000 units vs 100 units when you factored in how much armor the golem had.)
