All right...this is an issue which is apt to make me sound whiny, but at this point I just don't care. The issue is greater than the ripple it might cause. I am being pitilessly attacked by the same person over and over again; I suspect they've got premium tickets (I don't), but can't prove it, obviously...and that much by itself doesn't matter. First thing I should note is that this person has now utterly destroyed two or three of the golems I've used to guard my workshop...one bought just last night at a rather high price to make sure I wasn't going to be picked on while I remained helpless. In any case, here's the deal: I have the resources to make golems up to L2 iron, though my iron is a little on the short end of the spectrum. But...every time I create a golem, this user attacks me till they destroy it. (Interesting sidelight: what determines whether or not the chest is disabled or the whole golem destroyed? Because it seems like -EVERY TIME this guy decides to pwn one of my golems, the golem gets actually destroyed instead of just shut down.) The up and short is that I'm stuck gaining no experience since I have no golems to fight with and have exhausted my missions with the guard. I am clearly a target to this guy, who's part of a clan while I am not. I cannot escape the spiral, and it's only a matter of time before everything I've worked almost three months to build is trashed. Contrary to what you might be thinking, I didn't create this thread in order to whine or to launch a mob in this guy's direction (notice that I'm not labelling him, even though I wish to?) No...I'm raising an issue that may cause the game harm. If predation of this nature is allowed, or even encouraged, the weaker or the less fortunate are going to be driven away, without having done a single bit of harm to anyone. Being able to opt out of PVP for premium tickets is nice...-if you can actually -get the tickets in the first place, which I'm afraid I can't. This game is supposed to be fun, and a challenge...but it's not supposed to have me wondering exactly how to break a loop I shouldn't be forced into. If this kind of behaviour is allowed to flourish, certain clans/people who've been around a long time or can afford lots of premium tickets and perks are going to run roughshod over the rest of us to the point that some of us (myself included, if something doesn't change) will leave...thereby denying the game some of its business. It is my personal feeling that one should be able to opt out of PVP without penalty or cost of any kind, at least to start with. I, for instance, want to build a whole bunch of golems and beef them up without being worried I'm going to get stuck where I am now...this is actually the second such trap I've been involved in, and I barely avoided the first. To put things in perspective, someone who started a month later than I did, a month at least, is now levelling faster and has a higher score (plus more golems) than I do, because she has never been attacked...while I'm essentially being slowed so much that all my hard-spent time and effort has come to naught. My suggestion itself, therefore, runs thusly: Enable a profile option or something which shuts off PVP. A player in this mode cannot see details about the workshops of other mages, but can fight them if he wants. Catch: if he hits Fight, he loses that protection and is open (no matter what) to attack for the next 480 hours. The guard stuff still applies, but of course if you can't be attacked then it's sort of moot. I think this should be triggered upon character creation so that a new player isn't brutalized before he knows what he's doing (though I do love the newbie protection and the bit of premium you get to start with). I would further suggest that instead of having it cost premium tickets, have it cost gold coins instead? Something that -everyone can get fairly easily...pay it like a subscription. And if you fight someone while you're protected, your subscription (so to speak) is gone and you wasted your coins. Just a suggestion, of course, and I mean no offense by it...but I do hope something is done, because this is unacceptable. |

Ouch, they completely destroy it every time? That's a bit harsh, even for my standards, and that's saying something. I've always thought it to be much more cutting to just knock both their arms off and steal the armor. All I can suggest to you is that you ALWAYS have a spare golem with which to farm for exp, and a spare of the essential parts just in case. That way even if your gaurd gets thrashed you can at least continue to farm for exp. As for your question on what decides if your golem is completely destroyed, there is a separate "part" of your golem, just labeled "hp". if this is a non-zero number, and your chest is reduced to zero, it will shut down with 1 hp to the chest. However, if the hp and the chest are both reduced to zero, the chest will collapse and your golem will be destroyed. I've yet to find exactly what causes hits to the main hp though. As far as a being able to opt out of PvP for coins, I'm not too sure about that. It would be incredibly out of reach for the lower leveled players who need it, while as you level you could pay for several periods of no PvP with a few hours of work. Even at level 14, in 12 hours of work i gain roughly 7000 coins. There's just no way to balance it unless the cost progresses with level. By the way if you need a spare golem or two I'd be happy to make you one. |

Critical hits and losing limbs are what hurts the main hp. Sorry to hear the struggle Jayde, might I suggest joining the OTAKU clan? We have a good stock of guardian golems and protect our own quite well. Message Rigby if you're interested. Anyways, I think we all agree that as it stands, the pvp situation is a problem. The question is, how to fix it? The option of opting out until you attack is ok, except then you can stockpile safely and launch a massive attack when fully prepared. And money is the toughest resource to get in the game, so that option isn't very newbie friendly either. I can't really think of a balanced, non-abusable pvp option that keeps the pvp in th game. Ark has mentioned before that he wants to have a pvp aspect of the game and I think everyone should be at risk for SOME pvp (otherwise non-pvpers don't need to dump resources into guards, walls and hidden rooms), but not in the level that you're experiencing. Maybe make the missions 6 motivation and make them more effective, so you don't need a zillion to provide safety. |
