The base to hit is off of your mage level. It was here in the forum or the help pages somewhere. I'll post it when I find it.

Thats good to know, maybe I'll make a bunch of lvl 1 fleshies and make a nuisance of myself on the highest level golem defender I can find and start gettin' those levels ^.^

That's the way I got to angelic in such a short period of time and in general - higher level gives larger working fee.
