Hey, so I don't know if this is also affecting this forum or not, or whether I just don't know enough about the forums and how they work but.... I check my clan's forum everyday, and sometimes, when I navigate away from a page and then go back to the forum, all the threads that I haven't yet read (that moments ago showed up with the little white instead of yellow marker to show there was something new) instead show up as being read. Is there an obvious reason why the forum is reading itself without me? I guess I'm also just interested in how the system decides if I've read something, because in the *this* forum, a thread will show as read unless I've read it recently and then a new thing has been posted (and for all I know it shows up as read even if a new thing has been posted). Sorry if that made no sense. Oh, this happens on multiple computers, though always IE (7 on this computer, and I'm pretty sure 7 on the other as well). |

Stuff seems to show up as read if it's over a certain amount old, annoying when I'm gone for a few days. Topics I've never even seen mark as being read for me on the main forum because I've been so focused on the clan forum I forget to come here. |

Don't know if this helps, but it appears that the system treats this main forum and the Clan forum as one and the same. Meaning if I read something in the clan forum, then go to my workshop, it automatically sets things in the main forum as read, even when I haven't gone there yet. And of course vice versa. This is independent of what browser I use, IE6, IE7 or Firefox. |

That might be my issue. |

Same problem appears to be happening to me on the main forum pages (eg, this "Bug Report" page). On my newbie account, I opened up the forum pages while waiting the 13 minutes to finish building the level 2 flesh farm (since I couldn't make a queue) As I remember it, all the topics had black bold print, for unread. I read a couple items, then clicked on my workshop to check progress. When I returned, every single thread was pale in color ("read"??) on all my topics. (IE explorer 7, windows XP pro). In Case pale meant "unread", I tried clicking on the "Mark as Read" box, and no change |

This issue has been present for as long as I've been around. It was reported at least once that I remember (Forum bug [www.muelsfell.com/world/map_community.php]); I haven't been through all of the pages I've missed yet to see if there are more reports. As far as the clan and main forums are concerned, I know that they are part of the same forum system (each clan forum is just a private forum), so visiting any part of the forum will trigger this behavior. My temporary solution was to read every thread, so then I would know that if the latest post was made after a certain time, I hadn't read it yet. |
