Darghelm, in the Foothills of Ulvania
The hardy people of Ulvania value family bonds and friends over all else, so Darghelm has developed an extensive network of taverns, cozy inns, and messaging systems. They are not a cowardly nor xenophobic people and so allow people from all over the continent to use their taverns and speakeasy establishments.

What if instead of just being able to automatically seek out the creature you wanted to fight in a given area, things were a bit more random-whatever nasty attacked you first was what you fought that time, or you could go in seeking a certain monster, and hang out in that area either for a given period, fighting whatever came around, or until you found that monster.
Maybe each battle would take a little more motivation, but not as much as sending the golem all the way there, so sometimes, you would get 3 battles for a bit more than you would normally spend to get to an area, sometimes just one.
I think this would add a bit more danger, with the possibility for a bit more reward as well, and make things less of a straight up grind.

While I like this idea I think it would be best to keep the low lvl monsters the way they are so low lvl players who can't afford to replace golems often don't get hit with more then they can handle

I've often thought the same as this idea - it would make the game far more engaging and more of a role playing idea (it could add the prospects of quests (not just for one creature etc) and much more random encounters.
However I understand that the coding for this and the effort is much more than the one man who runs this show could put in (first spells, then not beta, then more creatures / golems / buildings etc...) this project would be a long way down the road I think.

That and it would make farming adamantine a real pain in the rear if you cant even be gaurunteed to hit the giant 100% of the time.

Rather than make which monster you hit random..

Give the monster a population... Run it similar to the resources, so you can over-farm critters and then you have to wait until they respawn...

With the current amount of critters this wouldn't be as user friendly, but with the amount of monsters that Ark says that he wants to put into the game then having pops could make it more random as you would have to fight differing monster every-so-often or just wait until re-spawn... Would also reduce the pain in farming specific resources if several mobs dropped them... Giants all gone, try the dragon over in South Mount (or whatevers appropriate level and resources-wise)

Eh, just an idea...

Iremember reading somewhere that Ark planned to put creatures of subsequential levels in each location. What if he made it, once more creatures are in each area, so that in order to attack the highest level creature in an area you also had to go through all of the lower lvl creatures as well, seeing that the creature descriptions put the higher lvl monsters higher up the mountain, or hidden deeper in that marsh or ruined city.

Would this be just with the motiviation cost to attack the highest...

Doesn't really seem fair unless you only have to attack the lower level ones once, ever... Even so...
