Would it be possible to display the ratio for gold transactions, the way it is for resources? This would allow one to easily compare multiple deals involving different amounts of, for example, flesh asking for different amounts of gold to determine who's got the cheapest price per cage. Right now I've got to do the math in my head of "500 cages for 350 gold is equivalent to 1000 cages for 700 gold, so the offer of 1000 cages for 650 gold is better". I can do that, but displayed ratios would make it easier. I'm really enjoying the game! I saw your ad on "Tales of Mu" and followed it over. Thanks! |

Not that it really has anything to do with the topic, but I love 'Tales of MU'! And Muelsfell looks pretty awesome so far. With that out of the way, I would like to second the request for a displayed ratio for offers involving gold coins (as opposed to the resource 'gold' - but I think we knew what you meant, Mijal). While I'm here, I'd also like to question the use of the colored box around the ratio when the different resources have different values to the community. A green box should indicate "a good valued deal", but while that might be 1-1 for primary resources, that isn't necessarily true for secondary resources or gold coins. |

I'd really like ratio to show up for money transactions as well. I'm not so good with the math and while i can tell that 500 units for 500 is a worse deal than 1000 units for 600, having the ratio thingy there, especially if you could sort by ratio after having selected a resource you wanted to buy would definately be a cool thing. ... and yeah, i'm here off the ad on tales of mu story too. ook 2<3 |

I agree, this seems rather necessary. How funny so many o us are here from ToMU I'll refrain from Oooking out of respect...for myself. |

Is it really that hard to do math? |

No. It's not. But is it really hard to consider the request? There is a ratio for other traded resources, why not gold coins? |

I agree, the ratio box should be removed completely. Caveat emptor. |

Oh, I would love to hear the logic behind that one. It's already coded in, and obviously some people find it useful. It does not detract from gameplay or mislead people (though the colored boxes might). So why should it be removed completely? |

Money isn't listed as a ratio because I felt it would affect market prices. For example, 1000 iron might go for 75gp on a regular basis (and be a fair price), but the ratio indicator would imply that it was a "bad" trade. The ratio indicator is useful for resource vs resource comparisons. Ideally some resources will be more common than others, but this won't happen until more methods for earning resources are introduced down the road. Kep |

If you don't want to impact market pricing too much, perhaps you could implement a price tracker? That is, have the game record the X-to-money transactions, average them, and display the ratio box colored with the average over the past week or two corresponding to 1:1 in resource trades, color-wise. That would both let the market drift over time and give people some idea of how good the trades they're looking at are. |

Well, I already express my skepticism over having the colored box indicators. I would rather just have raw ratio data displayed for each trade and it be up to the people trading whether a particular ratio is 'good' or not. Edit: I just realized that I somehow missed Arkham's post for over a day and a half! :oLast Edited: Apr 8, 2008, 10:05 am |
