Heya, was poked over here today and while I don't think the game is for me (as in misaligned audience), I was asked and so, here's a few thoughts I had during my minutes of play for what they're worth. on the front page, I really couldn't find a lot to draw myself into the world. While its clear (even from looking at the nice little description above my post) that you guys have thought of the overall worldsetting, only really the map seemed to show it from pre-login, without much on the cool things that'd happen (Like perhaps some covering of the various kinds of golems that can be put together?). Anyhow, a friend was asking, so I checked it out and tried to register. Didn't seem to be much to personalize at all in the time I went through, which I think was my first offputting factor. I notice you sell it to premium members (cool) but yeah, it feels like the workshop is really the character. I got a message promptly from my friend and tried to join his clan, only to get a multiple account warning. Didn't really see any way of dealing with it from that screen, which would probably be great (I'm the classic 'joined to play with friends' case that getting stuck there is really an ouch factor). Got linked to the forum to try and ask about it, but by this point I was getting overwhelmed by the interface. There was way more early on than seemed important and the interface all looked the same. Lot to be said for a good consistent look and feel (which you have), but every page seemed alike and had tons of options on it, none of which felt very relevant to me as a new player who just wanted to join a clan and start in some random activity (rather than have the option to do fifty of such). It's probably second nature to folks after a bit to take their golem from the basement and lead them outside to combat, but it didn't really feel that much and while the tutorial covered a lot of what things were, it didn't really get me into "Okay, here's the fun of our game, start enjoying" and instead kind of left off with "oh, here's a free golem that we give you to get going and you made no decisions on". So, well, two bits of advice, think about how to make the interface less 'hopping around screen to screen' with everything almost equal, but more drawing your eyes to the important activities quickly (Maybe a newbie and advanced view, or unlock sections as players get started so it isn't a flood of options the new player doesn't really have the ability to use) and use the tutorial to get to some point where the player takes some actions (even if its putting together the default golem, I didn't really feel like I learned anything about golem creation when I got it). By the time I could take actions, I didn't know what to take and I didn't care to much since everything I had done so far felt flat/given to me. Thanks and good luck. |
