Maybe my compass is broken. When I use the directional arrows, the map shows me I have moved one square away. If I then pick the same direction, i appear 3 squares away.

On the other hand, If I pick one direction, left (it shows one square left), then up, it shows I have gone an additional square left from where I was centered, and two squares up.

This is especially bothersome when trying to scavenge. I am one square away from where I dropped some eyes, for instance, i click right, it shows me there are eyes, i click scavenge, it says it has no idea where they are, and when it presents me the local area map again, I've overshot my mark again. i can spend all day clicking left and right, trying to scavenge only to find I've gone too far astray.

Please tell me this is a bug and that I don't need to buy a better compass or a camel or something.

You probably got tricked into buying one of those bronze compasses instead of a brass. Man, those things mess with your head big time.

Being serious though, it probably has something to do with the fact that actions are actually embedded into the url, so to speak. Like say I moved left one square to a town, then searched the town for people to attack. Uh oh, there's no good people here, so I hit the back button. Well the "left one" action is still in that window, so it sends me left again when I choose to leave the town. You're probably experiencing this but at a much worse level.

my thought is...lay off the cactus juice. (we don't have any breweries yet so...no booze)

poseidon could very well be right, if you are using the back button while exploring the local map. another possibility is that there is a connection error causing the code to take the action multiple times.

In order to help Arkham, could you post the operating system and web browser you are using? It could help him find the problem that much easier (also it is listed in the bug report rules)

I'm running XP and browsing with Firefox 2.0.0.15... plus a bunch of extentions for web development, firebug, tamperdata, etc, etc... (it's my job)

Anyways, one or more of these must have been doing a second request, as after i went and disabled all the extentions, crashed the browser, restarted... the local map started operating as predicted.

so very very odd, because i know it does not do double-requests on any other webpage...

Ark, is it moving me on the map when a 'HEAD' request, or other non-GET request to the locale.php is performed?
