Hi.

I'm really sorry if this is an annoying question, but I've just started the game and am rather confused about how research works.

given my current amount of buildings (particularly the lack of a library), I'm told I can research making eyes at level 0, or flesh golems at level 1.

but these are both things I can already make by default, ---- level 1 flesh golem parts and the hazy bottle and cyclopian eyes.

do I stil need to research these in order to gain access to higher level researches? If I do research these, will they gain me some extra parts to make (I'd deffinately like to be able to improve my Golem parts).

And this business about 20 maximum researches, ---- how does that work? do I have to abandon being able to make one type off item for another?

then, what is the salvage yard for? I assumed from the description it was a sort of job center for golems where they could earn things like iron brass and copper, ---- but I'm told the golem would be destroyed if I create one to work there.

sorry for the persistant questions. I really like the game, and can't wait to get to carry out some quests.

No problem, I'll try to answer some.

The research would be for the NEXT level of eyes/golems/etc. So, researching flesh would allow you to make a Level 2 golem. Researching eyes will add more eyes that you can make.

Yes, 20 max researches means you won't be an expert at all things. A lot of people are selecting one type of golem to specialize in, others are going happy with low levels of different types. Others might focus on armor, getting it to a very high point. Its all personal choice.

The salvage yard is for getting rid of golems that you no longer want to keep or sell.

thanks. If you don't mind some more questions reguarding research slots, does one level of item take up one slot? and if you cancel a research, does that free up the slot?

eg: suppose I now research flesh and can create level 2 flesh golems, then at some later point I research the creation of level 3 flesh golems, if this takes up two slots, could I free up one slot by canceling the ability to create flesh level 2? Would I stil need to have the ability to create level 2 flesh in order to create level 3 flesh?

while I can see the advantage in creating a range of items such as armour, eyes or power sources sinse they depend upon what unrenewable resources you've got (which you may or may not have at different times), for golem types which depend upon renewable resources I'm wondering if you just need to max the level of each creation rather than have a scale.

Just a thought as reguards stratogy.

While I'm not sure, since I've not tried to erase a research level, I'd wager that you can't erase the research on a Level 2 item unless you erased Level 3 first. But again, I haven't tried it.

Thanks againbe interested to know how the erasing thing works before I start on research, sinse that way I can considder which way I want to go.

Of course, if you can gain more research slots some how, ---- say by leveling up your library then this would be fine.

It's probably just my temprament, but I love creating and researching like to be able to do as much and go as far as possible if I put in the time and resources.

I'll admit I'm not a huge pvp fan, but I deffinately like the idea of seeing what I can make, and of the exploring and questing involved in this game, so more advice on the research front would be much appreciated.
