After talking a bit with another melee user, it seems like the early melee weapons (especially the dagger) have a comparatively low attack rate, the dagger getting only 1-4 attacks in a round as an example, even when plenty of energy to spare. This limits their usefulness pretty heavily in my opinion, and is especially disappointing since there's no indication of attack rates(or energy use for that matter) and once chosen you're stuck with your choice. You know, that issue only gets worse. None of the melee weapons (With the exception of the spiked chain) attack fast enough to spend a significant portion of the golems' energy. |

True, never mind balance. As they go up in level the weapons may be "better" than previous ones in the sense that overall their stats are better, but that fails to take into account how armor and rate/high level powersources affect combat, thus making them less useful overall than the spiked chain. |

Having just gotten reinforced nunchuku, I feel this thread needs to be revived. I'd fought the kobold nightshade a few times and it got quite a lot of attacks with them(I'd guess at least 10, though I don't remember exactly), however now that my golem has one, it only gets 4 attacks with full energy. I know golems are probably not exactly the most dextrous of creations, but the difference seems rather extreme, and once again quite limits their usefulness. *edit* Looking at some old posts by a clan member it appears that the kobold didn't actually have that many attacks usually, perhaps I'm misremembering, or the instance I remember was an error. 4 attacks in a round is still a saddeningly low number though.Last Edited: Aug 14, 2008, 5:30 pm |

Yep, Rate, another hidden statistic on weapons. Makes the reinforced nunchuku and golden morningstar only mediocre or good instead of awesome or incredible. |

Seems like it wouldn't matter as much if we could count on using whatever weapon more than a time or 2 in the battle, but it seems like golems prefer their fists to the weapon they are holding. |

It's brute force over advanced tactics...what did you expect from a statue? |

A statue smart enough to use a nunchuku or morningstar? I expect it be be smart enough to only use its weapon if I tell it to. Especially if I duct tape one to both of its fists. |
